That's a horrible idea. What time?
Rolling coal and deafening exhaust seems to be the more common theme on those trucks, especially the Ram.

On a different and probably well beaten dead horse, Toyota filed a new US patent with a new diesel technology. That's what started all the hype about a diesel coming to the US truck fleet. I'm not an engine guy, but the reports say this is supposed to burn cleaner and more efficiently, eliminate the DEF, and meet US EPA standards. You guys who know more about this, is this feasible or just a drum beating in the distance?

Last year I heard toyota was manufacturing that motor in texas, and it will be an offering on the tundra. That's about it.

I'm also pretty sure def is required for usage on all newly sold commercial diesels.

You have a link to that patent, or a patent number?

I'd have to Google search for it. It was in one of my several news feeds about a month ago.

My secret hope is that they have a version for the Tacoma in the 4th gen for 2024.

Lol at a 60k tacoma. I say that, because when I priced out a 250, the cost diff between NA or diesel was 10k.

With inflation and shortages from toyota, prices are going through the roof. Add a diesel. Easy 60k imo

There are plenty of trucks that get 300k on them.

I've got 92k on my 18, and I wont be buying another taco. I plan on keeping this thing forever

Eventually I'd like to get a daily when I finish school and get a real job, so I can then cut the 4runner up and do even more dumb stuff, so we'll see. The diesel is definitely cool for the low end torque, but I imagine they do suck for highway or traffic.

Its not a 4 runner, but I rented a f250 with a 6.7, and drove it 90 miles everyday for 2 weeks. Thing was a limo, and dangerous. Like hit the gas, you are at 80 mph from 40. For a big truck I was impressed. The gasser I rented for a week, and it was trash.

I plan on keeping this, without question. But I do want a daily, and if they offered a diesel in a non-TRD, I would think about it as a daily. The only issue I would have is the annual legal robbery on the vehicle tax. So the daily won't be a new vehicle.

That would work, but I suspect the wife might have some not so happy thoughts about it.

I thought about the Crosstrek. But I think it would get the same cool reception.

We're to the Grand Canyon with the Taco in October. She said she's not driving in mountains, and isn't excited about driving it in general. She's a small AT car person.
