3rd Brake Light Safety Recall?

Hi All. This recall is a real thing. I brought my 2019 Pro in for the T-SB-0092-20 flash on Tuesday this week. When they checked me in for the flash, the recall came up too, so they also did that work for me while I was there. Checked in at 0815. Was back on the road at 1000.

BTW, when I made the appointment last week for the TSB 0092 flash to be done this week, they ran my VIN and said there were no recalls in place. So this just came down sometime between Thursday last week and Tuesday this week.

 

I missed my appointment due to testing positive for covid. Bored out of my mind, I went outside to inspect truck today.
No leak at all 6 months ago. Dry with no smell.
Today after 2 days of rain from Ida. Whole back under seat is soaked.
Called toyota in town. They have to inspect it, but the lady did say the tsb says fix what is damaged.

 

Got mine done and they somehow scratched the inside of the light? Waiting on a replacement to be shipped in so the entire thing can be swapped.

Service writer a Post Oak Toyota just told me they wouldn't do it with my ARE cap on.

 

Here at valley hi Toyota getting this along with an oil change. They are saying it will take 4 hours! Seriously can't believe four screws and a gasket would take that long?

 

Well I just called my dealer and asked if I had to remove the topper to get this done. I have a appointment on Thursday. They said they can get it done with the topper on if I have a window in it. So we will see. I hope they can because its hunting season and I don't have time to deal with this crap.

 

I submitted for reimbursement via the Toyota app the other day. Now I wait…

So I called a Toyota dealer in another town and they said they could do it. I've got an appointment for Thursday morning and they're predicting a couple of hours. I guess we'll see.

 

Folks getting the new recall third light. Did you have leaking problems or just having it replaced as a recall? Are the technicians looking for water damage and addressing it? I found water on the floor behind the seat which I think I would of never of seen except that I took out the plastic cubbies. I have the molle panel instead , which allowed me to see the painted floor where I found the water,which would of been covered. They stripped the entire cab ,seats out ,console out and carpet ,where I guess they found water damage or mold. They have had my truck for eight days now and am told they are waiting to hear from corporate to allow the fix . I do have a 21 sport loner from them so at least I have a truck.

 

Soooo. From roll-in to roll-out took just over an hour and 17 minutes at Fowler Toyota in Norman Oklahoma. No fuss, no muss, no ARE cap removal.

Post Oak Toyota (formerly Hudiburg Toyota) apparently doesn't know how to do that. Or didn't want the job.

 

Ya mine just got done with the cap on no problem.

 

Got it done yesterday on my 2019 TRD OR. Dropped it off around 11:30AM, got a call a couple hours later saying it was ready to be picked up. Not too hateful at all.

 

Mine went smooth.

 

So I'm going to be getting this done soon and do not have a topper but am wondering why so many people are making such a fuss of it. It is not a dealer installed option (at least not that I'm aware of) and in that case it should be removed by the "installer" if it inhibits the repairs to be done adequately to toyota specifications. If your not mechanically inclined or don't have a reliable income than maybe vehicle customization isn't for you because it takes alot of money,time, and most importantly patience. Rome wasn't built in a day and quality work isn't finished immediately. Thank you

 

Who is making a fuss? All I read are post letting others know if they have a topper on if the dealer performs the work or not with options. There appears to be some inconsistency whether some dealers will perform the service or not with the top/cap on. You packed a lot of judgment and generalization into one single post and then finish with thank-you? Hope your experience goes smoothly.

 

I am just trying to let everyone know that the recall states that it should not be done with a topper on and if it was it was not done to the proper standards. I really like my truck and like to know that any of the recalls performed are done correctly the first time and documented well. I want the same for all of you and your tacomas as well. If your on this forum you know we all spend alot of money on these badass trucks so to me the recalls should be done properly to avoid further issues down the road is all. I hope everyone with the topper installed recall has no issues but would be worried of the level of quality or care put into the repairs.

 

Mine done as well.Mine was leaking so bad .I had a shop fix mine for free, and I did the bezel and sealing myself. Bought a kit on ebay. Mine was repaired before the recall came out and dealer wanted like $500.00 to fix.
