Wow, glad you're okay! That's always my biggest fear when I'm out riding. I try to stick to riding paths, wide sidewalks but occasionally have to venture onto some less-traveled outer roads and neighborhood streets.

I ride up through Schenley Park and then hop on the "bike path" to cross Greenfield Bridge and turn onto Beechwood Boulevard. Ironically, I went through the intersection and turned into the gas station because I thought it was safer than trying to turn against traffic. I rode over to the other entrance of the gas station, stopped and waited for a few cars to pass, and pulled out. He came from the opposite side of the road and turned into the gas station, never saw me until I was on his hood.

I do as much of my riding as I can on trails and bike paths. I run a rear blinker and a 700 lumen front light at all times when on the road, but man, even when you follow the rules of the road you have to have your head on a swivel. I didnt think to look across traffic at the opposing lane, and he didnt think to look for me.

I count myself as lucky. I took it on my knee and shoulder, rolled up on his hood like a beetle on it's back, bike up in the air, and only got launched to the road when he slammed on the brakes. I could've easily gone under, and at that point I might be looking a lot rougher.

Yikes. I got hit when I was younger. The lass stopped with me under the front of the car and shouting (because she was hysterical) up to her to please back up. Just a few scars and a wrecked bike for me. Funny that was on my way home from my girlfriend's house (who I've been married to for 32 years now).
Hope that you heal quickly (and fully).

That is a high traffic area for sure. Sorry to hear about your circumstances. A lesson for all of us is to be more cautious and look for bikes (and pedestrians too).

I've been hit by more cars then I'd like to admit. Glad it wasn't serious. Heal up bud.

Ever since I was hit by a suv on my motorcycle I always stare in my mirror waiting to be hit again. Even when I'm in my truck. Back in 2006 I was at a stop sign on my motorcycle a day before Thanksgiving had a lady run the stop sign only problem I was there and she didn't see me rear ended and threw through the intersection. Luckily I didn't suffer any serious injuries just some whiplash.
That same intersection now has a 4 way light because there were so many accidents.

That sucks. Haven't had a motorcycle since I was 18 and I laid that one down a few months in..they tar and chipped the road while I was at work, coming down the hill before the turn they left some gravel on the main road too, as soon as I touched that front brake I lost my wheel...ended up in a field on top of the damn thing with nothing worse than a burn on my @ss from sitting on the exhaust pipe. Haha, the day I brought it home my dad goes, "whose motorcycle is that and when is it leaving?" I said its mine and he goes, "so when are you leaving". Hid it in my friends garage until the accident, sold it, and never told him until I moved out. '77 KZ 650.

I had a friend that would keep his motorcycle in my storage unit. His mother didn't want him to have one. And tbh the kid was probably one of the best riders I know. Just a natural on the bike. He did track days with it every weekend. Not sure if his mother ever found out. But he sold the bike when he had his first child. I haven't seen him in 10plus years. Moved out of state.

Both of my brothers bought bikes as soon as they moved out. A definite no-no in our home. :)
I bought my Ducati many years later. I sure miss riding, especially on nice days like today.

I've rode my motorcycle once this year. Other then that it has turned into a shelves. Everytime I go out to the garage these more shit pilled on tip of it.
