Have a generator -- a guy like me, naturally I have 3 or 4 kicking around, between old and really old.
Have a working generator, well ... :anonymous:

It was! It's a 2012 I bought in 2013. Got a good deal on it since it was a leftover from the previous year.

I have never been too fast to name animals, you need to live with them awhile to see what name suits them.

I miss the two we had, just don't miss the cat litter that got tracked all over the house or cleaning out the litter box.

When I had my 2,300 watt running, I also had a suicide cord however, it was because I couldn’t find the right input plug. But, the difference in mine is I made a separate circuit in the house with 3 outlets. so could run things and still know when the power came back on. No way would it hurt someone working on the lines. At some point I will replace the inlet receptacle with a male or else completely remove the wiring..

Apparently I can use the 1500 watt inverter in the Highlander to power stuff. I assumed it was a 400 watt.

The generator inlet and interlock like the one Mike posted a picture of can be bought at geninterlock.com for relatively cheap and you’ll be code legal in no time.

Yeah I understood the necessity to cut off power where it comes in, I just overlooked the obvious hazard of a hot male plug end lol. If I did this, I'd be the only one who would touch it in my family but it's still a hazard to keep in mind for sure.

I’ve bought a few different generator setups from them over the last few years and they’ve worked well. I’m sure there are other companies that are just as good I’m just too busy to find them lol

It's a good way to electrocute someone. Ima hvac guy :) I had a licensed electrician hook mine up. Genny can't be hot to my breaker box unless the main breaker is off and a lockout panel moved, then the breaker for the genny can be closed. It powers up the house, but not the lines feeding the house.

Jeesh, forgot to swing by and say good morning everyone.
I think what would be nice is to have the generator set up so it was all automatic. Where I'm at seems we lose power at least a couple times a year but it's never out for that long usually. So basically I'd most likely be putting off hooking up unless extremely cold or anticipating more than a few hours of being without power.
