The American Hosts a LAME, they have nothing on the British guys. I don't watch the US version because the guys are jokers and out their league.

The American Version isn't as good as the British, but the British version is on something like its 15th season. If you've seen the earlier British versions, they're nothing like they're now. It will take time for the American Version to build a chemistry and flow that makes the British Version so great. I'm not saying they will be as good, but I wouldn't write off the American Version yet.

    same shit as everyone else
It was a treat for them to ride in the Hilux they had with them! They brought it to show what the true off road vehical was and they even went into detail about how the rest of the world depends on that truck more then any other. I was not offended at all!

They should've had the Toyota run the entire 'challenge' alongside the others - with THE STIG driving it!!

Yeah, I watch the American version and it's not bad. We record it and watch it. It's better than watching the stupid sitcoms!!

Yea, Tanner is the only one with driving skill, I don't really see how the other two got the job.

And it's weird watching that US version because they have way too many awkward pauses and dead end comments/jokes...I always feel like there should be a follow-up question or statement, and they just leave me hanging. There's no substance.

I saw this last night. I did find it a bit moronic that they were testing the American trucks but the Toyota was going through the same shit they were when it was used to rescue them if they broke down.

The American Top Gear is fucking gay anyways. End of story.

Sure the tacoma made It through the same stuff but it was not being driven into the ground like the other three trucks. Like I said before the trails are very easy I do the same trails almost every weekend with my stock tacoma.

^^X2 - Have any of you actually watched Top Gear? They are being sarcastic just like they always have been. Whenever they have done these challenges on the British show it's the same deal, they know their cars suck it's the joke that they don't want to be proven wrong.

I was quite honoured to see the Toyota chosen as the Truck that would be a backup- It essentially meant they trusted it not to break in any situation. Also Rutledge Wood has even talked in the past about how he owns a Tundra as his personal vehicle.

American or not....How many - of all the parts on any vehicle - are actually made in USA?? Who cares!! It's the end result that matters.

Besides, I think *they* (Top Gear) is only playing favorites to the majority of the American viewers whom will probably want an American car to win. If they bagged on the American trucks - can you imagine the shit storm they'd get? A non V8, non American truck winning? That's the last thing they want considering the show is still new.

That probably won't be the last 'truck' related episode. In fact, depending on the reaction from the veiwers.....might actually spur off some good (or better) upcoming episodes.

Foglights are for fog, not oncoming traffic!
In the BBC 1 test of offroad vehicles across South America, the Toy LC was the one that didn't finish...Land Rover won.
BTW, if you tested 2011 Tundra, Ram and F150, I wouldn't bet on the Tundra.
Alaska is pretty harsh on trucks.
The frame is not up to the challenge.

Yes, this is the US version... I have to say, I honestly prefer the UK version 10 to 1.... Needless to say, I was orginally pissed too, until I saw the entire episode... They took 3 "American" trucks, beat the hell out of them, and 2 broke... The entire time, the faithful Tacoma just stood in the background.... By the end of the episode, 2 of the hosts where riding in the Tacoma... In short, they had their "fun", but when it came to their sweet Hollywood asses being stuck out in the Alaskan wilderness, they put their trust in the Tacoma.... Enough said!

Actually, Leno turned down the spot because unlike the UK version, the US version has car companies (Benz) sponser the show. Leno felt that with car companies sponsering the show, the integrity of the reviews would come into question....
