What are you're lead times now? 10-12 weeks? I'm really interested in the Slimline Hybrid.

My "Toyota Heritage Grill" ;) will be arriving today. No idea when I'll have access to someone's garage to install it, though. Might try and get it done in the apartment parking lot and see if anyone complains or whatever.

Supposedly the letters are already color matched to Barcelona red, ain't holding my breath that I won't need proper color matched decals for it though.

Shouldn’t get any complaints. Lift hood. Remove grill. Replace. I’d tell them to piss off. You’re not swapping an engine or changing your oil.

I would like to believe this is the case, I suppose time will tell as long as it don't rain tonight I will get it done.

It's a brand new complex, just never know how many of the rules they'll actually choose to enforce. Shouldn't be too big a deal.

Yeah but that seems a bit extreme. Like saying you walk out and have a flat tire you can’t swap a spare in the parking lot. As long as no fluids are at risk of hitting the pavement. If they bitch about replacing a grill I’d be moving.

Doesn't your OR have a keyed lock on the tailgate? This trick is for those without locking tailgates... Until I get my tailgate lock powered I just stick the key in there and lock it, no hose clamp needed!

They make new Tacoma’s without a lock on the tailgate?

EDIT: just found a picture of one without a lock. I though it would be a basic thing these days.

    A bunch of shit...
Or for those rare times where you forget to lock it and someone steals every tailgate in your neighborhood in one night...

I thought the same when I got to TW... I got so lucky with my taco, I got the LED headlights, the locking tailgate... I really thought both would be standard at this point in the game.

Exactly what @BeachBum2012 said. Since I don't have the powered lock, I forgot to lock the tailgate manually quite often. With this I just don't have to worry about it getting stolen.

I imagine the SRs don't, but if they don't put it on every trim higher than that they are really pinching pennies at their customers' expense. That user's profile said its an OR, I'd be shocked if those didn't all come with a lock.

Valid point! I keep mine locked religiously, seems like a good habit to form until I get it powered. I was mainly hoping to remind them that there is a better primary locking feature.

I do to, but I also live in a shitty neighborhood. I forgot once and woke up to no tailgate. Neighbor's door cam showed that it happened at like 9 pm, with the whole neighborhood still up and about. They got 6 in total that night, 4 Tacomas, a Raptor, and a Silverado.

That sucks man, I hope you and your neighbors were covered by insurance for at least some of it. I live on the edge of a good/shitty neighborhood, so I hear ya. I don't even know which side of the line I'm on haha. We've had some break-ins recently, isn't the first time, won't be the last. Fortunately for me there are many older cars around so a brand new pickup is unlikely to be their target (I hope...)

Yeah I always lock mine. I’ve forgotten a few times and was thankful it was still there.

I was covered. Still cost me $500 for the deductible though. One of the Tacomas still doesn't have a tailgate on it was in March of 2020. The dude in the Raptor grabbed what looked like a standard F150 tailgate for like a year before getting his replaced. Crazy stuff. We don't get home break-ins, but tons of cars get nailed. Can't leave anything visible or you'll wake up to broken windows.

That makes me shutter after seeing that thread posted by the guy who had nothing visible nor stolen yet all his windows were smashed in broad daylight. I remember the feeling, my old '90 pathfinder got broken into when I lived two doors down from an NHL player (i.e. a really nice neighborhood), they uninstalled my aftermarket CD player, took my ray bans, and 1st gen ipod touch, in freaking 2016... and broke the rear door vent glass to get in. That's as expensive as a new windshield...

I'm glad I live in a place where I don't have to worry about someone stealing my tailgate. It's hard for me to believe this is a thing.

Right? It implies there is a market for them but geeze, what is it? (especially on newer models...)

Selling them to people who've had their tailgates stolen (or their insurance companies).
