My house came with a 20-ish-year-old water heater, which I decided to replace as preventative maintenance. I mentioned to the installer that I had drained it, and he said (paraphrasing): If you drain regularly from the time it's new, that's good. If you have a tank of unknown history, draining could cause new problems because all that rust and sediment you're stirring up might be structural.

Also for whatever it's worth, my new boiler did nothing to help my low hot water pressure... but it did clear up the rust-colored water.

Black Bear is one way into Telluride, Imogene can be done either direction so Ouray- Telluride Black Bear, Telluride to Ouray- Imogene

If you want company- Hang out Black Bear where it becomes one way until others show up.

Second all of this, especially the waiting for someone to tag team with if you're running solo. Perfect time of year to be up there too.

Nothing like a full washer taking a crap mid cycle.
Or having the furnace decide to give up the ghost, on a Friday afternoon hours before a Siberian deep freeze is about to hit. Good times.

Just to stress this point, We skipped the family Thanksgiving one year and on Thanksgiving I hear a loud pop and water fall sound coming from basement after dinner. Went down to basement to see water gushing out of Hot water tank, and that this water is flowing away from the sump drain right next to it... We decided to tough it out to not pay "holiday rates" to get it replaced. Since learned how to replace it myself.

    Fun times! :D

Most boilers are a closed loop and will heat your water via a heat exchanger. There are boilers that can heat potable water directly but I'd be surprised if you had one if those since they're typically for large commercial applications and very expensive.
Did you have the heat exchanger or sidearm water heater replaced at the same time?
