Driving pet peeves

I don't know if it's a Midwest thing, but people not carrying any speed thru a turn. They could have a green arrow for a right turn and they'll damn near slow to crawl to complete the turn.

 

Ever make a right turn on ice?

 

Well it's not the Arctic we have spring, summer and fall.

 

The dumbest move I've ever seen. I'm in right lane at an intersection during afternoon rush hour. Road is 4 lane, urban setting, 45 mph speed limit. Light turns green and as soon as we clear the intersection this lady slows to 15 mph and turns on her left turn signal trying to change lanes. Of course traffic is heavy and every car in the right lane moves over to pass. I'm trapped. All she had to do was drive at the same speed as the flow of traffic, turn on her left turn signal and wait for an opening. Someone would have made a hole for her.

She drives about a mile like this until the next intersection where there is a left turn lane, the middle and right lanes go straight. She wants to turn left at that intersection, but can never get out of the right lane. I'll be damned if she didn't just sit at the light after it turned green with her left turn signal still on trying to turn left from the right lane. With bumper to bumper traffic behind us in both lanes as far as you could see.

Fortunately there was enough room on the right shoulder for me and everyone else behind her to get by.

 

People who can't be bothered to try and make it thru a green light. Light turns green, 10 cars in front go with this person waiting until the cars are thru the light to let off the brake and start coasting towards it, hits brakes when getting to the intersection--with a green light!

Idiot, do you WANT to sit at a red light?

 

I actually saw someone at the beginning of the pandemic come out of a grocery store wearing gloves and mask, get into their car, open a bag of chips and start eating them all while wearing the same gloves they were just wearing in the store shopping.

 

Just a little pointless.

If I was making a series of short errands/trips I'd leave the mask on between stops just so I wouldn't have to keep touching it..if I did the glove thing I gloved one hand and wouldn't touch anything in my truck with that hand. After the last stop I'd peel it off and throw it in the trash bucket I keep in my truck

 

I know it sounds Karen-ish because it is, if you roll up to a drive thru know what is your fucking getting before hand. I hate this shit, move your fucking ass it's the same old salty shit they've been serving for years. It seems like lately i'm getting stuck behind these people where you can here the umm and let me think about it, can I get no pickles and a stereotypical gender toy for my kid and let me take five minutes for me to decide and proceed to pay in loose fucking change.

I'm hungry and I want to eat.

 

My pet peeve is impatient drivers.

 

This pissed me off more when I was in fast food. You might not know it... but they keep time averages that start as soon as the box dings. When I have to take 5 mins taking your order it really kills the percentage. My last job was supposed to take 3 mins from box to meal. I couldn't say well that a-hole took 5 to make his order.

Also another thing... if you have multiple separate orders... take your ass inside.

 

Yup, I remember this many years ago. My wife does this to me..I gotta figure at a McDonalds, Wendys or other popular restaurant you have a basic idea what you can get there.

 

Even worse, I was in a pizza joint bathroom when an employee came in used the urinal and walked out all while wearing the same gloves he used to make the dough.

 

Was making a left turn through an intersection on my way to work this AM, when the lady right in front of me (also turning left) slows to a stop halfway through her turn/in the middle of the intersection because she needed to pull down her visor and check something in the vanity mirror. What. The. Fuck.

Laid on my horn and of course she throws up her hands like "What??"

 

I make my girlfriend pull up the menu before we get there if she doesn't already know what she wants so we can be prepared before we show up.

 

Here’s a big one; When you’re stuck behind the a slow-moving vehicle and it’s legal to pass, and all of the vehicles behind you also decide to pass. Last night, I was taking my girlfriend home after we went to a car show and this exact situation happened. Like three or four cars passed us and the slow-moving vehicle, before I finally got annoyed and cut in front of a green Honda CR-V that was trying to pull the same shit. There were also close to half a dozen cue jumpers behind the CR-V…

 

Being stuck in traffic at a long light with people in the cars around you smoking, - you're trapped.

 

When people get out of my car and leave the seat belt twisted and hanging instead of flattening it out and feeding it back into the shoulder part. Next they're closing the buckle in the door and leaving dents in the door jamb

I swear my wife will unclip her seat belt and practically throw the buckle at the window letting go of it

 

It's probably already been posted but I'm not going through 75 pages of posts to check.

Right turn on red YIELDS to U turn.

If you're in a state with right turn on red privileges it means you can turn right on the red light but only if it's COMPLETELY clear. This means that if the car across the intersection has the green light and wants to U turn, you don't get in their way and act like they're the a hole. Happens all the time around here. Really bugs me.
