It's now Friday, Has anyone who has sent a email to the address in the first post actually received a reply?

Like a a bunch of emails I have sent to Mobtown previously, received no response whatsoever.

    No

but I know that banks honor goods not delivered charge dispute claims outside of the regular 1 month window if there is sufficient supporting info provided to them

such as screenshots of multiple unsuccessful contact attempts
And screenshots of original post + company pages showing it is shut down

Which I usually try to avoid
Not sure where the bank even pulls the money from in such case if other party disappears
Luckily for me it’s $30ish and not $1000

As per normal with @Mobtown Offroad there has been no response. Just like the last 7 weeks before their closing. I was super patient and understanding with their (40 week) wait time. Covid sucks and slowed lots of production. But I freaking hate getting screwed out of hard earned money. Luckily they only owe me the powder coat fee which they charge $250 I think, but I had to pay $457 locally in Virginia Beach. I feel bad for anyone who lost $1000-2000 dollars.

What did you have powdered that cost that much that mobtown owes you for?

High clearance rear bumper. That’s the going rate here apparently. Looked everywhere. And don’t get me wrong, I love the quality of product and everything about it. Just not the communication or smoke in mirrors about refunds.

Paid $475 for a front skid plate in July.
Was really looking forward to it as that design would work great with my Pelfrey alum bumper.... LOL

Am I going to see that money again?
Would be good to know, looking into taking it up with the cc as TacoTuesday1 mentioned.

    Edit: submitted claim --
    "WHAT'S NEXT
    • We'll contact the merchant on your behalf and let you know the outcome of our investigation.
    • In the meantime, a conditional credit for $475.00 will post to the primary cardholder's account within the next 2 business days.
    • The merchant has up to 45 days to respond, and we may ask you for more information. Please hold on to all supporting documentation for 90 days."

Considering people have not received any email responses yet, your cc dispute is likely the only option.

Did you receive notice of the Mobtown closure via email notice? if not, not sending out notices to active orders is a whole other tier of poor communication.

Every person I know who has shut down a business has told me, it takes months to years to settle accounts. I don’t know if Joe is doing all the accounting and correspondence or not. I totally understand frustrations around money and goods not delivered.

A side note: in my industry you cannot bill or collect funds for ordered equipment until it is shipped. So interesting that attorney generals allow businesses to operate this way. :notsure:
I know Mobtown had really great products and grew really fast I’m sorry to hear it’s ending and for some frustrating and ending poorly. I hope you’re all made whole, including Joe.

Just dumb luck, found out about the closure from this thread.
Knew the order would take a while but coming across this thread was a bit of a "aha" moment considering there was no other communication from Mob after the July purchase.

Can anyone answer a question for me please? When having Mobtown powder coat the front skid is there any bare steel left like underneath of where the oil door is, and were the bolts for door left in place?

Why do they owe you for powder coat? I’m assuming you paid them for it and they shipped it bare steel?

Mine was fully powdered underneath so no bare steel. The bolts were powdered as well

Same here. Picked my bumper up raw after they stopped offering powdercoat. Paid $450 here at a local shop to have it coated. I was reimbursed by @Mobtown Offroad for the amount they charge for PC but it didn't cover my expense.

Provide evidence you didn't receive something? This happened to me once with something completely unrelated, and the CC company ended up getting my money back for me.

    @JoeCOVA

Thank you very much! Now I can complain not that it makes much of a difference now. Through this whole process I only contacted Joe when I was told each time they would be ready for pick up at that end of the week.

I paid $240 to have all three of my skids powder coated from Mobtown. I was told by Joe it would take a week or two at most his words. I know he’s a busy man, so I didn’t really start calling him till after about the fifth week. I was told by Joe there wasn’t enough room on the trailer he sent out for powder coating to put my skids on. They would go out on the next one at the beginning of the week. Then he sent me a picture with a trailer full of sliders. This was after waiting five weeks from when he said it would be two weeks at most. I then called him three weeks later and he said well there is a delay with the powder coaters being swamped. I then contacted him four weeks later and was told the company he sent them to is having a hard time getting the material to do the powder coating. I let it be and then another four weeks I gave a call and was told it was still at powder coating. All along each time I spoke to Joe he told me they would be ready for pick up at the end of the week. The long skinny is two week turned into just a week shy of four months.

The front skid wasn’t completely powder coated. The oil change door was left in place and the bolts were also left in place during powder coating. Overall they are great skids and very well made. Would I ever buy from Mobtown again HELL yeah I would! I’ve seen their products take a series beating and keep on ticking. Here in Maryland and Virginia a lot people have their products and live and breathe them. Joe’s transparency and communication may not be the best, but he sure does make some excellent products for off-roading! I was really looking forward to getting some sliders and a swing out from them. Guess thats not in the cards now unless I can find some used locally.

This is the final product I received from Mobtown after paying $240 and waiting almost 4 months.

Hmm ya mine are powdered in those places. My guess is the powdercoater just didn’t bother and probably did everything quickly in large batches.

There’s a few fab companies that had their rep ruined by powdercoaters. I know KB Voodoo got a ton of shit because his powder coater sucked.

I think that’s why some no longer bother with powder options.
