Looks oem, was replaced by the dealer in Whitehorse. Looks like the warranty is out.

That sucks. 43k is still so young esp without big tires on it or hard wheeling miles.

I don't know much about the inner working of a steering rack besides having done my tie rods. I know they're rebuildable but it seems most people just buy new (or rebuilt) ones rather than rebuilding their bad one. Not sure how easy it is to replace the seals

You referring to adjusting the rack guide? I messed with mine once and it was a huge pain in the ass to adjust it back to where it was normal. Even the slightest adjustment caused the steering to tighten way up

 

First time I did it I gave it a solid quarter inch turn and my steering wheel wouldn't return on its own after going around a corner. Nearly hopped the sidewalk lol

 

Yeah I eventually found that just a hair over finger tight was perfect. Don't remember the torque spec but when I tried it it was too much for some reason

 

What’s a sign of air in the master cylinder?

I was bleeding brakes and got all the way to the front passenger and nothing was coming out of the bleeder or the brake line.

I followed Tim’s guide on YouTube and got it perfect on my 99. Too bad the rack was murdered by an alignment shop like a week later.

Alright how does this work?

 

I think I remember seeing a number of guys in here replacing the driver-side IFS front diff tube seal. I can't remember how many had to replace seals in the past few months.

 

I think mine is leaking/seeping


Along with some seeping around my oil drain plug.
