You think? I asked my mom today if she looks like I did when I was that age. She said yes. Few minutes later we were talking about it again and she said noo_O That bitch is confused and going into a home pronto!! Just kidding!!! I’m really close with my mom! She thinks she resembles me now….. I still don’t see it.
What a throwback! I did a dance routine to this song when I was a junior high cheerleader. The things I’d like to erase from my life….
    Too cute!!!

    Agree!
And from just how adorable it's hard to believe she could have been a junior in HS when that Wham tune was released.
Looks way younger than that to me.

It's harder to guess ages as I age myself. Regardless, your looking very fine at 49;)

I'm going to need a new (to me) cell phone soon. My S7 purchased used a few years ago is getting a weak battery.
I refuse to pay a grand or more for the latest and greatest. Need to price a refurbished 10 maybe.:notsure:

I was going to say the same thing, but as you say, the picture isn't really good enough to be confident about an ID.
Plus I'm unfamiliar with the ranges of birds out west.

    Story Time With Gritto

I have kind of a soft spot for Cooper's Hawks.
They were uncommon when I was a kid.
Then again, most hawks were uncommon then as compared to now.
People shot hawks on sight, the usual justification being that they preyed on chickens...which they did.
Mostly it was Buteos doing it (e.g. Redtails).
    They're the big burly hawks.

Then came the federal protections and states added their own penalties.
    Plus attitudes changed.
It's taken many bird generations, but hawks (and eagles) are back now, definitely.

Maybe hawks never were such a big problem for chickens.
I know a number of farmers and have never heard them mention it.
Most of the Mennonite farmers around here have chickens running free in their barnyards.

The signature of a Redtail kill is the hawk will start eating the bird from the upper back and neck.
I have seen this on pheasants when out hunting, and have even scared a hawk off his kill.
I'll tell you a little secret...a lot of hunters are very bad shots.
Every year pheasants get away from hunters carrying some lead pellets, and the Redtails get them later.
Pheasants are pretty tough as game birds go.

    Anyway, where was I?
Oh yeah, so why do I have a soft spot for Cooper's?
Because one of the first times my Dad took me hunting, we saw one.
He spotted it and motioned for me to be still.
In a low voice he said: "It's been years since I've seen one. Son, that's a Cooper's Hawk."

Then there was the time I encountered a family of Cooper's while grouse hunting.
Three of them, probably the parents and a juvenile.
I've told this one before (sorry...not sorry). ;)

There was snow on the ground and I flushed up a grouse from a laurel patch.
As usual, it didn't present me with a shot, but I marked the direction it took.
Grouse will not fly very far.
I trudged up a rise and looked down into a little bowl like dip in the ground.
I sat on a log, had a cigarette and studied the situation.
I said to myself, the grouse is in that patch of laurel over there, burrowed in the snow.

That when I heard them... and looked up.
Kik-kik-kik said one...and was answered. Twice.
    I looked harder.
Cooper's Hawks, in the trees around the little draw.
Evidently, they agreed with me on where the grouse had gone to ground.

I finished my cigarette and headed back to my truck, well content.
