Tacoma “…confirmed Wednesday that the 2022 Tacoma TRD Pro with the six-speed manual transmission can be had for $47,150 including $1,215 for destination. That's an increase of $1,610 over the 2021 model. If you opt for the six-speed automatic transmission, expect to pay $49,855.” Safe to assume a similar increase for the other trims.

Crazy. What a wild year to have 2021s and 2022s being built at the same time.

I'm pretty skeptical that any '22s are being built yet. The San Antonio plant is discontinuing Tacomas after the '21 model and I'd be surprised if they chose to produce "different" models simultaneously. That said, shutting one line down to do any necessary retooling for subsequent year's requirements would make sense. Again, I'd be shocked if they're building '22s concurrently.

But what are the changes? Couple colors? Maybe software/infotainment update? Slightly changed taillights?

I worked in the automotive industry for more than a few years as a collision painter, and it was always believed that usually the next model years weren’t actually manufactured until oct. of the previous year. However, if Toyota is making and subtle changes to their production I suppose they could be building the 22’s this month. I guess it depends on what Toyota decides to call a 22 model year. Personally I still stand by the label on the car or truck… built 9/30/21= a 2021 model… built 10-1-21 = a 2022 model. But what do I know, I don’t manufacture these things clearly, or I would already have my truck.

My truck was supposed to be built yesterday and the VIN quit working sometime during the night. So Kia comes the waiting game for shipping. I figure I’ll try to wait until Wednesday before I bug the dealer.

Nice! I hadn't even thought of looking at my dealer's website for my incoming truck. I'm 99.9% sure I found mine on their "in-transit" list with the window sticker and VIN!

If yours has been built already, try going to your dealer's website and go to new inventory and narrow the search to Tacomas. From there they may have a filter option for "In Transit" or just scroll through their inventory and see if one similar to yours has been posted to the site.

My dealer's site had an "In Transit" filter and it only showed ~10 trucks so it was fairly easy to spot mine. I also know that mine was built and is on its way.

Left the dealer around 10am with the deal almost done. They’re waiting on a lender to return a call about a .5% discount on the finance rate. The waiting is driving me nuts! I live an hr away so I’ve already been to Bass Pro, Dicks, Home Depot and some others just wandering around…. The ANTICIPATION!

I test drove it before the paperwork process….. damn fine ride. I did the undercoating, rust is real here in NY, so it was unavailable to take out while I waited for this end of it.

Well, after 5.5 month wait I had plenty of time to get my first mods researched and in order. Here she is with 1500 miles.

Cross Post from the "How much did you pay" thread:

Confirmed my specs and order with my Auto Broker Sep 3rd. No word since.

Broker is an old friend from elementary --> high school. Said since I know exactly what I want and am willing to wait, Exact MSRP: $40,250 before sales tax assuming I get a 2021 not a 2022 (whenever those start being produced...), said he gets 50% of his holdback and 50% goes to his firm. He's going to leave it at that and is just trying to get me to finance through the bank he gets kickback from. He told me because of shortage Toyota is charging them MSRP instead of typical Invoice, so his Holdback is already beefier but he can't go below MSRP. He knows my background in Aviation, so he knows better than to try to sell me dealership services or add-ons, it ruins the fun of building your truck yourself! haha

Truck is 2021/2022 Army Green DCLB TRD Off Road. Only optional equipment is the standard tech package, that premium package is stupid/unsafe and can Ligma. Between getting a crazy amount for my current car, and avoiding the $2,000-$5,000 dealer bloat here in CO, I should be set on cash to go right into basic new truck things. 4.88 re-gear, Tonneu Cover, Clazzio seat covers, dual battery install, Onboard Air, undercoat, Ceramic Coating, speaker upgrade/Kilmat ETC.

Now for the quick and expedient process of waiting for my truck to get here... Oh well, more time to save for mods and wait for parts to restock. :notsure:

I had 5.5 months (was supposed to be only 60 days) to figure out mods and get orders on upgrades with lead times (wheels and lift). Makes it totally worth it to have it where you want it with less that 1k miles.

Yeah, that's my thought process. Broker said anywhere from 2 - 7 months. I don't plan to lift it, besides maybe a add-a-leaf, until the stock Bilsteins and Wranglers are worn through. A lot of my goodies take a long time to show up anyways.

Congrats on your truck, man! its a beauty. Hope it was worth the wait. :D
