Mine landed today… has to go in the garage for a bit. The Draht pup has breed test this weekend, so it’ll get built and installed next weekend (Inshallah). I need it together and functioning for my hunting trip to Wyoming in a couple weeks!

Big thanks to @OffroadAlliance.com for getting it here in time!

i have the OEM tailgate lock. My main concern is being able to access my fire gear quickly without having to manually unlock the cap latches first. Having to open the cap to close the tailgate later is not an issue. Thanks.

You can modify the gasket on the smartcap to do exactly what you're looking to do.

Sorry for the delay, I got caught up with work and forgot. I had to separate the connecter that is shown and feed the majority of the cable in between the body panels.

I ordered mine in May, just couple of days ago I was told in on a truck from Jersey to Spokane then I should see it in Alberta Canada in about two weeks...supposedly Rock Solid Industries (RSI) will open a plant in Texas. Bunch of unrest in South Africa at this time...covid doesn't help...

Today's Install. RSI is making strides to keep up with demand. However, domestic trucking is falling on its face. This cap sat at a crossdock in Portland for two weeks before spending another week at the local hub before they unpacked the trailer.

Not necessary to open the cap to close the gate, just give it a little more umpf than you otherwise would.

While those kitchens look quite cool, how functional are they after you put some kind of lift in? Cooking bacon at face level doesn't sound too appealing says my 5' tall wife.

Has anyone figured out any good insulation solutions for the cap? Not sure when mines coming but when I do, can foresee it being blasted by the Sun. Got a dog who I'm planning to put back there if I can figure something out.

Thanks Mike! It was delayed a couple days but worth the wait and the 9 hour drive. Mike had it already assembled when I showed up and had it installed in less than an hour. Definitely recommend Mikes Custom Toys

The cap looks even better in person and so far I like it. I was expecting it to be a little short in the rear but really isn’t bad.

I was surprised by how much the rear window can flex when closing it. I’m assuming this is normal. I’ll just have to be sure to close it with the handle or from the center and not the sides. I’m worried glass could break from flexing to much.

Don't forget these penetrations! Somehow I missed them when I pulled my bedrail caps and had to go back after them by prying up the bottom lip of the bedrail cover and sealing that way. No damage done, but I thought myself quite the bonehead when I later realized they were there after all of my dust and waterproofing attempts in prep for my RLD Canopy (picking that up Tuesday!).

    44CFCDAE-C241-40EC-BEA7-AD75BB6C7CD6.jpg

Little dab of silicone in each tonnneau cover bolt hole. And whatever you feel best to seal the rear most hole. Some run their wiring for canopy through one of those holes though, so if you do that, you'd have to run wire then seal.

Make sure to run your sealant or tape on the inboard side of the innermost holes on the rails. I used silicone for side rails, and butyl tape for tailgate cap.

And then there are these areas:

    20210802_094617.jpg

    20210802_094014.jpg

    20210802_094322.jpg

    20210802_094940.jpg

As well as the rear cubbies. Butyl tape between back of cubby and bed. And Mikwilla's cubby hole covers.

The cubby on the passenger side (inverter plug) is a bit of a pain. Once you pull it out and pull the inverter plug out you will see what I mean. More butyl tape between plug, faceplate, and faceplate to cubby.

And the front corners of the bed under the rails as well.
