HID flickering?

Hey just a quick question, to everyone with HID's..

Did you guys need the anti flicker harness for your setup?
Ive got a 2010 Tacoma, and a local HID dealer here says i need the anti-flicker harness.

Can anyone confirm this?

i needed it, but i'm running 55W

 

i saw a mustang when every time they hit a bump it flickered i thought it was funny

 

so do the lights actually cut out? or do they just flicker once in a while?

I had 35 watt kit that started to flicker every now and then on start up. I replaced the bulbs and didnt have any more problems

 

You're a douche for blinding people and thinking it's a "pro". There's a reason you get flashed. HID's in reflector housing are retarded. If you're going to do HID's do it the right way or aim your light down so the hot spots aren't shinning at on coming traffic.

35 watt kits also need a harness. The start up draw on 35 and 55 watt ballast is higher than the rating on the stock harness. Some people get away with the stock harness and some burn the wiring up.

I don't know why people call it an anti-flicker harness when it's just a regular harness that does nothing for flickering. You're ballasts most likely flicker because they're poorly made and cheap.

 

Finally somebody that has experience with HID. Everytime I tell people to run a seperate harness for HIDs even plug and play kits, people think i'm dumb or crazy. A seperate harness with direct battery power will be more reliable and your output will be significantly better.

2. Purchase the Battery Wire Harness (35 or 55 watt kits)

3. Make sure you have true grounds

I got hosed for $100.00 on a Hid kit from another source and no matter what I did they flickered

My Raptor kit from DDM Tuning has been perfect No Flicker once so ever!

 

I got the 55w apexcone kit from DDM tuning. No flicker, no harness, and no blinding people PERIOD .

 

can you run those in traffic? or too bright?

 

I too have always recommend that people run a relay harness as well regardless of what wattage the kit is. The stock wiring ISN'T made to handle the increased voltage draw an HID kit pulls when the ballasts first start up. Definitely cheap insurance to not risk frying your stock wiring.

 

is the harness you are talking about the dual in dual out for like 13 bucks or something like that? Or are u talking about High / Low kits come with a fused relay harness and controller that regulates the high / low operation.

 

I can run them in traffic,but I don't do it out of respect to other drivers

I have been flashed once in 6 months since I have installed them

I save my HID Fogs for the back roads when I need them
