when I said I don’t understand it’s because it does not work that way on mine (I said this in the post you quoted) and I don’t understand why it does on some but not others not because I don’t understand how recirc works. Max ac (dial ccw) does absolutely nothing with recirc for me like I mentioned temp dial not effected.

basically so you understand… turning ac on period automatically turns on recirc. If I want it off I have to turn it off (not what I have been used to in past vehicles). Someone commented it being related to ambient temp which is a likely but I’ll have to wait awhile before I get below 70. Yes it’s simple to press it off but honestly I forget and don’t think of it.

That is very weird and I've never seen that in any vehicle I've been in. Wonder if it is some wiring error or something? Were you the orig owner?

Yes since mile4. I live in north fl. So the ambient temp override seems possible (if there is one)

Hmmm maybe a high-humidity area thing from dealer. I've never heard of that, but I'm in PNW and mostly just get rain & snow here. Good luck figuring it out though!

I do not use my taco on the weekends so Friday afternoon when I get home, I turn on max heat and leave it for 2 min.. I do not do this religiously but every time I remember.

another thing, is that I do not use ac max… even living in south Fl… I have a white truck with tint… max ac it gives me headaches… it is so hot outside some times that even fresh not that cold ac is enough for me so I guess I do not have much or any condensation…

I have not had this issues in 2 years of ownership..

    Covering multiple points mentioned here

    Per the manual:

When the outside temperature exceeds 75°F (24°C) and air conditioning system is on:
    • Recirculated air mode is selected as a default mode when the engine switch is in the “ON” position (vehicles without a smart key system) or IGNITION ON mode (vehicles with a smart key system).

To reduce potential odors from occurring:
    • It is recommended that the air conditioning system be set to outside air mode prior to turning the vehicle off.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
That is what I have observed with my '21 TRD OR AC.

With my previous 2 Toyota's I would turn on recirculate for faster cabin cool down or warm up. Then switch over to outside air.
Never had any problem with the stinky stank....
But dont care for the automatic recirculate in my 3rd gen.
