What I didn't realize before is that the bottom of the push bar doesn't actually go anywhere...

I've done a mod or two
Those beauty bars are all useless, in a practical sense at least. The only push bars that aren't trash are the police ones, they tie into heavy support sections because they're designed to do real work.

Maybe I should pull a Setina off of a wrecked Interceptor and modify it to fit my truck?

Unless you have mad welding and fabrication skills, definitely no. The Setina bars are custom designed and built for each specific vehicle. More importantly, they're also designed to take a hit. If you modify one, chances are you're going to end up with the same poorly designed / bolted together / infinitely adjustable mess you have now.

I would say put a little english in it by putting tow strap through it and tie to a large tree....gently back up about a inch. It is hard to say how those brackets will react without seeing it up close...but I have fixed many bumpers and straightened many grill guards this way. Or try a come-along to pull it out, to be on the safe side.

    Seriously, don’t worry about it.
Enjoy it and drive the truck.

Yeah, it doesn’t offer much protection. But it does some.
Those mounts don’t look as strong as the frame.
They will probably bend at the bolt holes. But who care.
If you take a hit that hard, insurance is probably going to get involved anyways.

It’s going to be fine man:thumbsup:
    Drive it!

It is installed much too close to your bumper, OP.
According to the best wisdom of TW, the correct position to install bullbars is on the some other vehicle :sawzall:

OP just loosen the bolts and you can adjust it where you want. If you like the bull bar, keep it. Don't expect much protection as it is thin walled tubing with poor support. You might try this from Avid Off Road.

I don't know what it is with the sudden influx of douchebags at car shows this year; Everyone remembers the drunken fatass at the Carlisle Truck Nationals last month who not only called me a communist but went on a racist tirade about the Japanese because I dared to have an American flag license plate on my "import" Toyota Tacoma, and there there was the overzealous security guard at Buck Motorsports Park just last weekend who singled me out for accidentally spinning my tires in that venue's shitty unpaved parking lot last weekend...

This time it was also a show official (rather than a drunk attendee) in a golf cart at the Gasket Goons show in Springtown, which happened to fall on the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

I was just minding own business and walking around at this show when an older gentleman almost hits me with a golf cart he is driving; The golf cart had three other people aboard, in addition to the old prick driving it...

Purely out of shock and fear, I said "Jesus Christ, watch where you're going dude!" I'd say that's a perfectly justified response; This old fart stops the golf cart, gets out, and has the nerve to start screaming it me...

You're operating a motorized vehicle in an unsafe manner at a crowded event; You gave me almost no time to get out of the way. Fuck off.

So, words were exchanged, a few of them profane; I realized I wasn't getting anywhere with this oaf, and I flipped him off before turning around and walking away. He took this personally and threatened to kick my ass...

About half a dozen people heard this and someone made him leave...

I soon found out that this prick in the golf cart was a founding member of Gasket Goons and briefly freaked out; That was until two different women who witnessed the golf cart guy's "Karen" moment came forward and told me that they'd had similar encounters with this same guy, where they'd almost been hit and then flipped out at when they called the guy out...

I went and complained to the show staff, and a very guy named Scott who was with Gasket Goons took my side. I told him everything including that, I had flipped the guy off, but only after he almost hit me and the jumped out of his golf cart and started bitching at me when I called him out...

I was very polite and also mentioned that I have high-functioning autism and don't deal well with people just confronting like that. I told Scott that the guy had threatened to kick my ass and that was all he needed to hear; I ended up getting the guy in trouble, so here's a virtual middle finger for him...

    @shakerhood

And I believe I might have mentioned this to you in a text message, but I never discussed it on Tacoma World; Last April, after picking up a DoorDash order at a bagel shop in Doylestown, I ran over a poorly placed portable wheelchair ramp that had been placed there by the owner of the bagel shop...

Actually, that's a lie; I bulldozed that damn thing! My truck had the 2" lift at this point, as well as the slightly bigger tires, and it just flattened this thing without damaging the truck; The woman who owned the bagel shop came running out screaming at me and demanding to see my insurance...

I refused to give her my insurance info because, in my own words, I wasn't about to waste my accident forgiveness on something that I could probably easily pay for out of pocket. I gave her my first name and cell number, and I later called back to further apologize and once again played the Aspergers card to garner more sympathy...

I never heard back from her!

This haphazardly placed metal ramp was about as far from being ADA compliant as you could possibly get, and it was very poorly placed; If I hadn't flattened the ramp with my truck, it would have been an inattentive soccer mom in a Suburban yammering away on her cell phone...

My theory is that this woman realized that (A) her poorly placed ramp was illegal and that I could have possibly had a valid reason for not being required to pay for it, and (B) she'd look like a real jerk for making a DoorDash driver who brought her food to the customer pony up a couple hundred dollars for something that was caused at least partially by her carelessness!

I went to Wal-Mart yesterday and was walking up the parking lot row when a lady in a minivan threw it in reverse and stepped hard on the gas as I was directly behind her, my reflexes were spot on as I really moved quickly!

Yes, one of the reasons I drive a truck is because I don't want hit things in parking lots; I would rather just run them over without damaging my vehicle!
