So have I, but I think people tend to over oil them, and that's the issue. We had multiple vehicles come in the shop with check engine lights and aftermarket oil filters. Every time the filters were literally dripping oil. It's just better to stay away from that particular problem.

Hi fellow Taco owners! I put in a K&N in my truck and immediately broke out in a huge grin when I hit the gas hard!! Sounds like a V8! Only recent had a issue. I had the check emissions warning light go on as well as the TRAC light yesterday. I looked it up in my manual, then noticed somehow my k&n had just barely come loose in front of the sensor. So I, as per UTube instructions went and bought a $10 MAF sensor cleaner, followed instructions, and redid the K&N tight as possible and problem is solved! Rips!
So that is what I love about Tacoma's and Toyota trucks in general.
You can for a really reasonable price both upgrade and fix a lot of problems yourself. Would never try that with my Audi A4!
I put on myself nerfs, RIPP Coil Packs, the K&N, and also put in a pop-n-lock so now my tailgate locks with the remote ($137+tax thru Amazon).
Seems more powerful and I do mostly fill up with Premium fuel...

Same happened on my tundra after installing a K&N cold air kit. The oil they use for the cloth filter fouled the mass air sensor causing the check engine light to come on. I bought some cleaner for this, and sprayed the fine element in the sensor...put it back in the truck....no more check engine light.
