Sheeeeesh! Jealous of your setup! Looking good! There's deal of a Fiberglass cap locally, but it doesnt have all the features I want...looks like buy once, cry once is the way to go again haha

    Whole lotta stuff
That is a sweet setup, that should serve you well. Consider the fact also that you pretty much have a GFC camper at half the price

Ordered a paint matched canopy for my long bed about a week ago. Initial estimate is Oct delivery. Hopefully the pace with keep improving as the ports become less restrictive. Can't wait!

Does the gap between the cab and cap bother anyone else? I'm considering ordering a cap but that is my main sticking point? Perhaps cut/bend some sheetmetal to make it more form-fitting like a fiberglass shell?

It doesn’t bother me at all since I’m more about the function over form but I can see why it can bother some people.

It doesn't look so bad here! The shell is a bit higher than the cab but not as high as a fiberglass mid-height?

Does anyone have side shots from a 3rd gen DCSB?

Hey Mike! Was wondering if you’ve seen any of the RLD drawers yet. Had the Alu-Cab drawers for my 17 Tacoma but had to send them back due to several manufacturing defects. Wouldn’t mind trying some drawers again but haven’t seen anything else that peaks my interest. Would love to see some pics of the RLD system in a Tacoma and hear some thoughts about them.

    Thanks!

I have not been able to get my hands on a set of drawers yet. I will try to get some installed pics for you.

Finally in at Rhino Adventure in San Diego. Picking up Tuesday, then next weekend will be wiring hell again wiring up the interior and door area lights, and roof rack lights. Would like to think I'd complete it all next weekend, but highly unlikely.

Oddly enough, I have never seen one on a Tacoma before, until last week. Saw a cement Tacoma driving down the road in the marina with one on. In the year since I became interested in them, it was the first one I'd seen on a truck.

How long did it take you to get it after you ordered it? How was your experience with Rhino Adventure? In San Diego as well and have been looking at these for a while now.

I actually never placed an order. Back in May I had called Rhino Adventure and CaliRaised to inquire if they had any in stock, and also lead times. I wanted a quicksand matched with black doors, but the lead time on those was 6-8 months as I recall. CaliRaised had one in stock, but it was black with charcoal doors. I was considering having the shell painted here, and leaving doors black, so the charcoal doors weren't going to work for me.

Called Rhino, and they also did not have one in stock, but had a couple of black on black already on the way on the boat and not spoken for. Their pricing with shipping costs and install was also a bit better, shaving about $200 off the deal vs. Cali as I recall. Estimated delivery quoted then was late August. It arrived last week, so they were about right on the mark.

So far so good with Rhino. They were easy to deal with. Received an email that my pick up and installation was scheduled for Tuesday. Whish there had been a little more flexibility there as Tuesdays are tough for me to break away. When I checked to see if they could do it on a weekend, they said they typically don't have the staff on weekends for installs. If I skipped this date, the next available date wouldn't be until October as when the containers come in, installation schedule fills up fast. So, not ideal, but I can make it work. They were able to push the install a couple hours to aid me in not having to take an entire day off work (important as I need to conserve time off for an ailing mother right now). So I was thankful for at least that.

Also picked up an RLD Roof Rack and load bars from CaliRaised. Also easy to deal with. And when I got the rack home, I noticed one of the load bars was twisted. Called them up and they said to come on down and they'd replace it. It was an hour drive there and back to swap it out, but can't complain. They swapped it out without issue.

Really wanted a quicksand matched canopy, but the lead times weren't going to work for me. So will run black on black for a while to get through the end of this year and hunting season. If it troubles me, I'll take it in and have the canopy painted.

Thanks for the info! Looking forward to getting mine ordered up. Probably get it on the books within the next 3-4 months. Surprised to hear that Rhino came in $200 cheaper than Cali Raised. Are they It sounds like they are doing the weatherproofing of the truck for you or does the install only cover picking it up and putting it on the truck?

No, just installing on the truck. All the weather / dustproofing has already been done by me.

A bit of a shock seeing it on there after being topless on my trucks for 20 years.

The black on black may take some getting used to. Will roll with it like this for a while, get through hunting season, and see if I then think it worth while to pull and get the canopy color matched.

But, as they say "Form follows function". This thing will be useful as hell for my purposes.

Roof rack, area lights, and interior lights starting to go on Saturday, I expect it will feel like a godsend first time out in the sticks, packing gear out, doing things in the dark like setting up camps and nighttime firewood runs.

And sturdy! Can't foresee any issues with this thing trying to come apart from off road abuses. I'm sure the utility and function will only grow on me over time. Being able to be more flexible with gear packing versus trying to jigsaw puzzle everything in "just so" so it will all fit in the bed and under a tarp will be very nice.
