Look at tirerack.com. You'll be able to compare tread patterns and ratings and prices. Your local tire shop price will be close.

If you haven't done an alignment in a long time, what I've been told is the best time is with new tires.

I once bought a used car, it had 4 different brands, 4 different sizes, 4 different wheels, 1 flat, no spare. It drove much better with matching wheels and tires.

Best all terrain right now is one in stock...

Cooper, Mickey Thompson, Toyo all make great all terrain. All three are 3peak rated and have 50k-65k mile warranty depending which load rating you get (p rated or Lt). Most aggressive looking is the Baja boss AT. They just don't make a whole lot of sizes in it compared to the other brands. I've heard good things out of nitto new recon grappler, which is their new all terrain but their previous ones were garbage.

I would really like to try the Mickey Thompsons. I was told they are on backorder and the were not great for snow and ice. At least the skinnies I tried to order. The better Mickeys are 33's only. I am due for a new set but due to budget, it looks like Falken a/t3 @ $155 each and weighing only 43lbs. It is hard to beat Falkens in snow on or off road.

Lol. No, it was a grand national. I always wanted one, the opportunity arose, I bit. I knew it would be a little bit of a money pit. The little part was the mistake.

I have General Grabber A/Tx in the mail to me. I chose based on them having the highest winter ratings in tirerack.com survey results of on/off road, all terrain tires.
(It should be noted that they don't sell Wildpeaks, therefore not included)

I'm surprised that A/Tx aren't more popular on the forum.

Tire rack and Discount tire are great places to shop around. I have found its easier just to buy local. The shop i go to is basically the only shop left that is good at alignments. One stop and keeps shop owners from thinking you are a D bag.

I prefer the hybrids I can air down for Max traction. Blizzaks may be slightly better on ice but in snow I will drive past you.

They look so good. My friend has them on his gay jeep. He likes them about the same as his old nittos. Think he ended up with a 34" due to lack of inventory.

I"ve had 4wd and good 3PMSF AT's and snow tires on a Scion TC and I can guarantee you that an AT is never going to outperform a proper winter tire.

It's a FWD hatchback. And, with snow tires it's better in winter than a 4Runner with good AT's. The only advantages the 4Runner has are clearance and 4WD. As far as actual control, even the best 3PMSF AT will not be as good as a winter tire.
