Hey guys. Current owner of a 2012 DCSB OR manual. I may take a look at purchasing the same options in a 2021 or 2022.

I've read a lot about the 3rd gen and am kind of excited I may have this opportunity. Here in Hawaii I think I'd be looking at 40K+ and a 4-6 month wait.

What are some good things and bad things about the 3rd gen? Anything I should consider? What should I consider that I am not thinking about?

I was also going to take a look at the Ridgeline but I really want a manual.

    Thanks!

I do, it needs some paint work that's several thousand, I can afford a new truck at this point, it's getting older. Between paint and potential repair costs in the future, I was just thinking it might be time.

Understood, but those potential repairs are way less than a new truck payment. The 3rd gen has some quality issues and more expensive than the 2012 you currently own. I
    JMO, I wouldn't do it.

I disagree. The used truck market is so crazy right now, the amount I'd get for my 12 kind or negates the higher cost of a new truck.

It has its issues as well, just seems that most repairs are 2k to 5k to fix anything on this truck and dealers seem more willing to weasel their way around warranty.

A warranty is a legal and binding contract, bottom line. No weaseling around it.
And repairs on 2nd gen are cheaper....because ???

Yes you do have point. Some things in the near future: paint, brakes, spark plugs, and tires. That's possibly 10k total.

The manual in the 3rd gen can be a bit clunky from my experience. Still a solid truck tho. I like mine and had no serious issues until I lifted it. I still like it though.

However if I could do it again I'd definitely go with an automatic transmission. Just my 2 cents.

Not going to argue with you. My experience with a 3rd gen has not been the smooth as Toyota says "We make it easy"
My experience, my opinion.... I got a fucking Monday or Friday truck. Quality control called in sick the day my truck came off the assembly line.

5.5 years here and only a battery.
And I have one of those 2016's where everything is different and has been changed on the newer models, lol.

I like the 2nd gen too. A great rig. I'm actually considering purchasing one as a daily driver. My 3rd gen has a lot of offroad mods and the ride quality went in the crapper after that. It's a beast on the trails but that's where I would like to keep it. Just for fun and drive a different vehicle around town.

sorry to hear. I know that that can be frustrating especially when the dealership doesn't man up on the warranty

My 07 was flawless. Never an issue until it was stolen. Hence the purchase of the 17 I currently have, its been a decent truck. Just nothing I am gonna write mom at home from the war about.

Tires will run close to $800. Paint quote is 6-7k. 20-25K (maybe?) for my truck, that's getting a solid chunk toward a new truck
