You could probably get it wrapped for a tad cheaper, than painting.
But if you are changing paint color, that Is the quickest way to devalue the truck. Keeping the same color means you don't need to do the door James, engine bay or under the bed rail/tail gate trim.

How much does a high quality paint job cost in your area?

Paint quality has been one of the issues on the 3rd gens, especially the super white/blizzard white finishes.
My super white is flaking off in a few spots.

I have a manual off road ….not a fan of the programming of the manual transmission. It’s clunky as shit .I have rear differential howl . Whistling noise . I’m seriously thinking going to the new Nissan Frontier . Some may love this truck but the amount I spent on this truck I expected better quality .

I'd rather spend $200-300 per month keeping a 2nd gen going. Rather than $600-800 per month on a new 3rd gen. I've owned a 3rd gen, this is JMO.

i had a 2013 and now have a 2021. i like the 3rd gen but not any more than the 2nd and would keep running the 2012 if i were you.

both were manuals and i will say the 3rd gen shifts better.

The 3rd Gen Manual is buttery smooth compared to the 2nd Gen.

I had two 2nd Gen MT prior to my 2017, the smoothness of the shifter compared to the previous trucks was the first thing l noticed.
