Okay, so what is the simplest way to get a 1" lift in the rear

So just to clarify, when I put on the TRD front suspension (struts and coilover) and rear shocks I will gain no lift.

1" in front seems to be what folks are getting. No lift in rear.

    Further clarifying.

Third gen coils on a second gen provide an inch of lift.

Shocks on front or rear provide no lift.

St Maxx on Trd pro wheels, mbrp exhaust, k&n cai, jba's, 887's over 5100's, medium dakars and 5125's.
they’re way beefier than stock trd-or struts also. Whatever trim you have other than pro, Toyota put toothpicks down there.

Just chiming in to show the 5100 series next to the TRD OEM bilstein rear shock. It appears to be a 2" diameter vs the stock 1.5" diameter shock body.

The 5100 is exactly the same length as the stock shock and works fine on my stock height 3rd gen Tacoma. I wanted a slightly firmer ride, which the 5100 provides over the 4600.

You have some surface rust showing it’s ugly head. You need to nip that in the bud with some wool wax or fluid film. Don’t let your ride rust away my friend. Be proactive.

I'd rather buy another truck than try to wage war against the natural order of things. Truck has 160,000 miles on it. Appreciate your concern but it's fine.

The front 5100's are adjustable, giving you the choice of 0" to 2" maximum lift (on a 3rd Gen.). The rear 5100's are not adjustable and do not give any lift.

The new TRD kit included 1" rear blocks.

This is a great comparison. Out of curiosity (I know this is the 2nd gen forum) does anyone know what Bilsteins are in the 3rd gen TRD Off Road? Or are they the same as 2nd gens?

THANK YOU!!! I was wondering that since these are so much larger than stock and I always thought that the stock ones were 4600’s since they came with my truck when I bought it brand new so you can imagine my surprise when I took these out of the box and compared them too what I currently have on my truck and they look like they belong on a Chevy 3500 Dually!! LOL. glad that these are infact the correct shocks and they will not raise my vehicle. Thanks. I owe you a beer!!

    Newbie here.
    I have a 2012 double cab 4 x 4 TRD sport.
I Currently have the stock shocks.
I was hoping to upgrade to the 5100s so that I can add a little larger tire.
I mainly use this for regular highway/street driving.
    I don’t do a lot of hauling.
I just want a little better stance that looks a little beefier.
I’m not sure what I need to get with the 5100s to give me 1 to 2 inches of lift.
I’m not sure what to put on the front and or the back to make it level.
Any advice would be really appreciated

U won’t get any bigger tire than a 265 75 unless u cut the cab mounts. 5100s and an OME coil or a headstrong coil will give u 2” up front. If u want to lift the back u can go with brand new leaf packs or an add a leaf. Use the search button. Tons of info on here.

Do yourself a favor & save a few bucks and go with the 4600’s. Just my .02 cent opinion

I agree. You won't get additional lift with 4600s but 265/75-16s fit without lifting, and look noticeably beefier than 265/70-16s. And 4600s are Bilstein's recommended shocks for non-lifted applications.
