Dobinsons 2016-2023 Taco Suspension Options

I was at 10 while on the sand. Went anywhere I wanted once I figured it all out.

 

If you're rubbing the UCA's you might need to change wheels to something with a negative offset.

 

That's great man!!

Have the alignment guys do this:
1. Set the rear cams all the way out and the fronts all the way in. This sets maximum caster.
2. Set camber then toe

That gives Max caster and makes sure they start from the right baseline. Should be about 3.5 degrees of caster then green on camber and toe.

 

What uca's are you running?

Wide tires on stock wheels could make contact since they're sucked so far into the wheel wells

 

Stock UCAs and 285/75R16.

 

OK. Yeah, that sounds about right, it would be touching without any added offset on the wheels, and the wider tires now on those stock wheels are able to touch the UCA's. A pair of higher clearance UCA's (like the Dobinsons ones) could help you if the tire is contacting right by the end of the arms near the ball joint. If it's touching further in on the arms, you'll probably need to add some higher offset wheels or spacers to gain clearance there.

 

This is where it is rubbing. Think your UCAs will work, or might I still be looking at spacers as well?

 

I think you'll still need to space the wheels out, either by adding wheel spacers or new wheels with a greater offset. The Dobinsons UCAs "might" get it done, but I can't guarantee it.

Yeah!! I'd say look around in other parts of the forum and I'm sure you'll find the same story with wider tires on stock wheels with UCA contact, and then how people fixed it.

Hello @Crikeymike , I’m looking to replace my factory springs with some red Dobinsons. I’m wanting to get 2in of lift in the front. I’m stock everything, going to be putting them on Bilstiens 5100. Which ones would you recommend? I see the stock weight ones go up to 1.6in of lift. And then to get 2in, I’d have to go medium weight. Would the medium weight be a rougher ride then the stock weight ones? Thanks for any help! Nate.

The C59-302 and 314 are the same spring rate. 302's give about 1.5-1.6" with stock weight, and the 314's give 2".

Looking at the IMS kit with C59-354 coils up front since I will have a hybrid bumper and winch mounted up there and eventually skid plates. Would there be any reason to not opt for the long travel rear shocks?

No, except that you have to add longer brake lines and bump stops, so it adds some cost, but gets you the most down travel.

 

Finally got my rear suspension sorted with the Dobinsons heavy duty pack. The OME springs lasted for one year then sagged, added a leaf and it lasted another year. With a camper on the bed time will tell how these will hold up.
