Oh, you were driving; In 2015, an older woman almost backed over me in her 2006ish Honda Accord. The bumper caught me in the knees and only reason she stopped is because I started pounding on the truck; Dumb bitch...

Oh, and also, the owner of the bagel shop has my name and number; For obvious reasons, will not be picking up DoorDash orders that place in the near future, but since she has my number I don't think I'm doing anything illegal by not reaching out...

I meant to post this yesterday, on the actual 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, but between the car show and some other stuff (and the fact that I was so tired I took a 3-hour nap as soon as I got home yesterday evening), I forgot...

However, maybe since the full gravity of what exactly had happened likely took close to a day to set in for me, it's more fitting that I post this today...

I have shared where I was and what I doing on September 11th, 2001 a few times here on TW...

I was 12 years old and I don't even think I was halfway into my second week of 7th grade; My dad was stationed at NAS Whidbey Island, so we were living in Washington and thus three hours behind the East Coast. All four planes had crashed and both towers had already fallen by the time my parents got up; We were living in a 1-story rancher, so the family room was just steps down the hall from my bedroom...

My mom woke me up like she always did, but today was different; I forget exactly what my mom said, but she told me something had happened, got me out of bed, and brought me down the hall to the family room where the news was on our Sony Trinitron 32-inch TV...

It was probably CNN, but I don't remember (we're talking two decades here); My mom told me that some bad people had flown airplanes into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. All I saw on the TV was men (probably firefighters) searching through dusty wreckage; Again, two decades, so I forget whether it was the Trade Center or the Pentagon, but it was just as so wrong either way...

School was not affected, at least in the sense that we still had to go and no class was cancelled; I honestly do not remember anything spectacular or otherwise out of the ordinary happening at school, even in the first few days after 9/11, but being an immature preteen with Aspergers Syndrome, I do remember being a little bit upset that some sort of ice cream social on either the 11th or 12th was cancelled (As I watched the news over the next few days, I very quickly got over this)...

My dad had been on a drill weekend the weekend before 9/11, and was supposed to have Monday and Tuesday off; He took Monday off, but 9/11 was on a Tuesday and he went into work even though his superiors didn't expect him to.

Life in Oak Harbor didn't change too drastically, though a large portion of its population is military so the amount of patriotism (flags outside houses, etc) was incredible; Within a week or so of 9/11, Nick News with Linda Ellerbee dedicated an entire episode to the attacks. I wanted to watch it, and my mom encouraged me to do so; First time in history I can ever remember my mom openly encouraging me to watch Nickelodeon... :D

The Nick News special answered a lot of questions about the attacks that my parents and the mainstream news could not, and my mom actually watched it with me that night.

One thing I do remember is that for Christmas in 2001, we drove down from our house in Oak Harbor, Washington to my aunt and uncle's house in Monterey, California; Key word: DROVE.

We had a conversion van with a TV and VCR so the trip was very easy for me, but in the summer of 2000 my mom and I had flown into San Jose from Sea-Tac to visit the relatives in Monterey. It was a very short trip.

My grandma lived in Virginia and flew from Dulles (possibly Reagan, but likely Dulles) to Sea-Tac, but she was a 75-year old woman who lived across the country and driving was obviously out of the question.

For Christmas 2001, I believe my dad opted to drive us due to a combination of the 9/11 attacks happening only three months prior, and having not only our usual luggage, but a metric shit-ton of Christmas presents and my grandma's stuff as well.

It was a fun trip; My grandma and I watched movies in the back of the van, and we stayed at a hotel in Oregon.

Anyway, that's where I was and what I doing when 9/11 happened...

My grandma flew back to Virginia from San Francisco rather than ride back to Washington (state) with us and fly out of Seattle; My parents may have in fact taken turns driving and drove all the way through rather stopping at a hotel on the way back...

My mom told me that we likely drove to California because we didn't want to put the dog in the kennel and brought her with us; We have NEVER brought any of our dogs on an airplane (and I honestly don't think I've been on an airplane since before we got Mandy); Also, in case anybody forgot...

Molly (Born December 11th, 1994, taken home January or February 1995, died December 23rd, 2009)
Mandy (Born 2018, adopted September 2018, died July 2019; She had a congenital kidney disease)

She's not garbage, she has mental severe mental problems and needs help that I can't give her. I've known her since 2009 and briefly dated her in late 2009-early 2010; She was kinda whacko then...

We drifted apart and I hadn't seen her since the end of 2012 when she contacted me like a month ago wanting to try dating again; She'd just been kicked out of a house in the Poconos where she's been living with some friends.

I figured she's kinda cute and wants to try it again so I we started dating. We went to car shows and stuff, and I even managed to get her into bed once during our 3-week courtship (to be honest, she wanted sex more than I did, and this shoulda been another red flag).

She started showing her true colors after she threw an empty soda can out of my truck while I was driving her home for a date; I understandably got annoyed at her for littering, and I got a bit uppity. She pulled the "I have PTSD/Don't yell at me" card and kinda started a getting a bit aggressive; Her excuse was that "there's nobody around"...

I was able to make it clear that she wouldn't be riding in my truck anymore if she continued to do shit like that. She agreed, but this was the second of three times where I kinda snapped at her because she either did something stupid that warranted snapping at or started giving me an attitude because she didn't like something I did.

So, we decided not even a week ago to just be friends; Yesterday morning at barely past 8am, she sent me a link to something she found on Facebook Marketplace. I was barely awake and didn't respond; She didn't contact me the rest of the day. I realized that evening that all of her recent likes of my posts had disappeared and then I discovered I could let message her or find her profile, which means she blocked me on Facebook; She also blocked my number so I can't call her.

So, as I told John, it's like the garbage taking itself out; I am not calling her garbage though...

    @ABA180

She has bipolar, and she's also on the autism spectrum, and the combination of those two can obviously lead to serious issues; I have Aspergers and anxiety, but I don't have bipolar. To put it simply, my issues didn't prevent me from getting a concealed carry permit; This girl has been institutionalized before (though voluntarily) and I would not want her around a firearm.

This girl claims that some truly awful shit has happened to her between 2009 and 2015 (including before I started dating her the first time); I've talked to my own therapist and some other trusted confidants, and I believe she's stretching the truth with a couple of those stories, but I really feel for her and hope she gets help.

She's also very immature and, as stated above, resorts to playing the "I have PTSD and you can't yell at me" card whenever she is called out for doing something stupid (like tossing a soda can out the window of her boyfriend's Tacoma at 50 MPH) or just being constructively criticized.

She has a very dysfunctional family as well, but for lack of a better way of describing her...

Even if I had Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos money and could afford a kid at this point in my life, this is the last woman on earth I would want carrying my child; She has diabetes, she has a few other health problems, she's mentally ill, she's lazy, and she's immature. I've got my issues, but I've got a job and I didn't end up with diabetes so bad that I lost a toe...

I found this sitting curbside in my girlfriend's neighborhood and it seemed to have a "free" vibe rather than a "ready for the landfill" vibe...

It is a Frigid box fan, likely from the 1960s or 1970s; Box fans of today just can't hold a candle to this thing in terms of quality. However, there's no sign of life in this old bastard whatsoever; I'm thinking (hoping) that it's a simple fix so I can get it running again instead of trying to get what I can for it at the scrapyard...
