i don't comment a lot, but when I do it's usually about duratracs. they are great tire- deep treads, great traction in lots of weather conditions, and they don't look like minivan tires.

Dang. I’d check out big brand but i have to use americas tire/discount tire since they are going to credit me for the crappy duelers that didnt last more than 25k miles.
Im comparing falken at3 and the cooper 4s’. Both seem like solid tires. The falkens are a bit heavier though.

I was interested in the Falkens, too but Tire Rack's reviews as well as Big Brands, and a couple others sites rated them low in the categories I was most interested in when comparing them to Coopers and Toyos. If theToyos were on sale like the Discos, I would have popped for them to give them a shot but their SL rated tire was at $250 a pop and I got the Discos for $160.

Good to know! The 4s’ seem like a great tire fore highway driving while also having a nicer sidewall than Michelins.

I had Falkens and swapped to a set of Duratracs. Falkens were by far the better deal given the performance in the snow, dirt, and on-road manners for the money spent. I do feel the Duratracs are a little better in the snow, and subjectively think they look way better. I do find them to be noticeably louder on the road.

I just ended up ordering the Cooper 4s’. Americas Tire (Discount Tire) had a $70 promotion going on and I got a massive credit for my current Bridgestones. With certificates out the door was $417.

    That's a great deal!

Just got my Cooper AT3's installed a few hours ago. They're nice and feel great on the truck, so far. Just as I expected!

That was my thought! I half expected to get back $50-100 for my Bridgestones and then he told me $417 out the door and it took me a second to process it haha. They didn’t ask me if I wanted the certificates (normally I deny them as any nails I get (not often) are patchable), but I may just stick with it. Think they were $26 a tire so $109 in total. My biggest issue with the certificates is that it’s only 3 years and the tread wouldnt match the wear on the others.

You're reading my thoughts! I was offered the warranty but it was $35'ish I think times 5 tires. I never have before but I almost bit but thought the same thing, when I have 20k on these, I don't want 1 new Tire and flat fixes are free anyway as are rotations.

Exactly what I’ve been thinking. I’ll probably bring it up when they’re installed tomorrow. I barely noticed until I looked at the receipt. Maybe they’ll give them to me for free since they never asked me (100% wont happen but would be nice!)

My next set will be duratracs. Big reason is you can get them in load c.

I can deal with the loudness if they wear better overall. I didn’t rotate my Falkens nearly as often as I should have and got almost 40k out of them, I hope that I can squeeze a bit more out of the GYs for the increase in cost.

Just do it every oil change so it becomes habit. My Falken had about 25k on them and still had about 60-70% tread left. They were all worn dead even too.

Wow.....I'd be really disappointed with such short mileage life on a set of tires.....30, 40, 50K. Horrible, IMHO.

Shoot, I have a set of Michelin Commander IIs on my motorcycle with 10k. Need to replace due to age. But the mileage and age on motorcycle tires is a bit more critical.

My truck was purchased with a set of GY Wrangler SR-A. Not a good tire. Can't wait until they are dumpster fodder. Date stamp indicates made in early 2016...there is cracking between the lugs...... Snow, wet handling is weak. Ice, snow pack handling is wretched. Although, they are quiet on dry pavement. Rear tires are losing grip, they tend to break loose leaving stop signs under moderate acceleration.

Tires have a small contact patch on the road. This patch is the point connecting you and truck to the earth.......is it really a place to pinch pennies????

For your primary use case (commute) Michelin LTX AT2. Long lasting with good wet and snow performance.

I’ve been rotating with the oil changes for the GYs, so far so good.

I just ordered a set of LTX A/T2s from Costco for my 20 SR5 DCLB. My stock Destination LEs are crap. Wanted Defenders but they were unavailable to order in my area.

Are these tires going to be too heavy for an SR5? 245 75R16 size. 95% pavement driving with some gravel river roads for fishing.
