Any suggestions on places to take the family camping with our RTT in Virginia? Been around the Luray area in the National Park here but haven't had a chance to find places to camp

Switzer Lake/Flagpole knob if you want to do some light off roading on the way there

A few additions to make me feel cool.
John H Kerr Dam! One of the nicest Army Corps of engineers campgrounds in the country and a beautiful huge lake.

I'm just over the mtn from you. We like Outlanders in Luray. You can go South on 81 and West on 33 and camp on Flag pole Knob or around Switzer lake. We enjoy the campsites on Skyline drive mathews Arm, Lewis Mtn, or our favorite is Loft Mtn. Loft has private spots. State parks Pocahontas is really nice or further East Westmooreland Park.

Also, not too far from you, if you're looking to camp lakeside. Try Sleepy Creek WMA in West Virginia. It's just across the state line. Off roading trails there too

I can tell you one place not to go. Country Place River camps in Luray. That place sucked and a bunch of bad folks came in
I've got to try that place I keep hearing about it but have never gone

It's primitive camping tho from what I've seen.

We don't mind that. Camper is self sufficient and will follow the truck most places.
