Mostly 340,000 miles of wear on the '96. A sharp looking Gasshole for the '21
LOL - I'm ultra low tech and give zero fucks for the smart phone thing. The good thing is that your truck communicating back to skynet so your ad stream can be adjusted. I like the Lowrance idea.

    Yes, have used pay phones.
First TV I remember, my folks had a B&W console.

The other questions......no first hand experience.

LOL I was at the Auto Club last weekend paying the tags on one of my trucks and overheard an old couple sitting in the cubicle next to me getting a Trip Tic for an upcoming trip to Seattle. The agent helping me said they get one or two people a week who ask for them.

I may be wrong but I sort of think something is wrong. I don't think they would give you the big screen but no nav?

Arg see my post on p 1.

That's the base truck head unit 2021+

That button literally exists on the base unit as a shortcut to maps on Apple CP or AA

OP see if you can get a smartphone from a relative or a friend that they do not use any longer. It doesn't have to be active. You can then download and use "offline" GPS...meaning you don't need a data plan.

This is the way. How else are you supposed to remember where your fishing holes are on the Trask?

    Nope

Just go get a cheap or old Android. Download an offline maps app. Download the maps. It updates every night as long as it reaches wifi in your driveway. It's what I used to do before I had a company paid phone plan with unlimited data

When I moved across country…. It was the beginning of the smart phone era. My partner at the time was like we doing this and your not buying a map? As if you need a map for South Dakota.

I can't swear this is accurate, but I don't think any of those offline apps will work on the head unit.

I say this because this past weekend I spent a fair amount of time trying to get Avenza mapping to come up on my head unit and it would not. This was Android Auto so possibly Apple would work... But I doubt it

Interested if you guys have run an offline app through a defunct smartphone and got it to show on the head unit....?

I'm old enough to remember everything except for no TV.

Paper maps don't tell you where the accidents are where the traffic jams are or even where the cops are.
