ok just came back from camping. Weboost does work but dont get high-expectations from we boost , its boosting signal by only a bar, when i had extended with one bar, weboost did a boost to one more bar and i could make a phone call, in some areas on the way back home i had 4 bars extended cellular signal, i turned weboost on and it was showing LTE 3 bars but damn internet didnt work and couldn't send a photo over text message.

 

This is how my Verizon is all the time. If I don’t have 4 bars of LTE it’s all questionable speed from there down. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.

Good to know though, as I had been waiting to see how it worked for ya.

 

Thanks for the update. Your experience may have convinced me to just go for a Bivy stick. At least that way I know I can communicate no matter what, even if it is only through text.

 

garmin inreach mini is great for that. I love mine. I like that I can send preset messages from camp without having to link it to my phone.

I Didn’t realize bivy stick got purchased by ACR though. That definitely beefs up their legitimacy.

 

It is important to understand "cell signal" and "internet (data)" are 2 totally different things.
That means some areas will only provide cell signal, and rarely the case that they only provide data.
I have been in the middle of the mountains with full bars (cell) and only have 0.5 MBPS data speeds.

A cell booster will boost both cell and data but most of the rural areas have cell only for emergencies.

Well i guess thats the reason i bought it to make emergency calls, not browsing internet while im camping . Well anyways im not to impressed with weboost, but my Verdict is , was is worth it $600 for emergency calls? Answer is yes, sometimes all you need is to make one single phone call and there you have it.

 

I did a raptor coating on my rear bumper and finally i got rid of the damn chrome. Packed my shit and left fishing lol

 

My hi-boost does about the same. They have an app that's supposed to show you how well it's working, but I have the one phone the app doesn't work on, so it's a guessing game.

Hiboost has an app, not sure about weBoost

 

You could also switch (if you have a android) what type of tower's your phone will look for. Helped me in a bind a couple times.

 

inReach mini would be your best bet. You would ALWAYS have reception.
