Sorry, but that bit is just not true.

After mounting tires, I have seated beads with everything from hand pumps to a weaksauce Slime Motosports inflator to my Viair and my recently gone scuba tank. They are all equivalent other than the amount of effort involved.

It is true that tanks are the best method, but also the most costly, which is why I exited that game.

I recently got the DeWalt boxes. They make loading for camping and other stuff a lot easier. I plan to mod one of them to better fit my Viair. I can get it in there nicely without trimming but cutting back a few of the ribs would make it a lot better.

If the fam is along, the boxes can either be stacked or slung in to the bed.

    I've taken the mudflaps off?
I have $270 onto my Co2 setup. And you are telling me I can reset the bead on a 33" tire, on the side of a trail, with a handpump or a $40 Slime compressor from Walmart?

Now THIS I will pay money to see.....

I had less than that in my scuba tank setup. Maybe $150 or so, plus a bit messing around with a mount. But, I was looking at buying a new refill card. I realized the cost it and an upcoming hydro was going to hit near the cost of a Viair, the decision was easy for me.

The compact size of the compressor means that it is always with me, which benefited the fam twice.

My only loss is the use of air tools, which I only had a cheap ratchet anyway. Someday, I'll grab a compressor for the garage.

Seams steep! The last Hyrdos on my carbon SCBA tanks for my big bore air rifles was only $75 a pop!

Yup, it is. About $50 for the hydros and $80 for the fill card. The $15 price jump on the fill card sealed it for me. The Viair was $150.

Again, easy choice, for me, as I was getting fills more often than I liked.

Yeah, compressed air at scba fill pressures doesn't hold anywhere near the kind of volume to use in this situation, I'm sure you where having to fill too often lol. That's why Co2 is used -its expansion rate is 553:1.

How long does it take you to fill four 33" tires, from let's say 12spi to 35psi or whatever you run on the street?

Anyone have recommendations on a place to mount a reservoir tank? And where one can buy one?

Pretty genius tbh. Does it ever cut out when you're using it? I wanna do this but worry the ac inverter isn't strong enough

Air was fine for wheeling. I got many tires out of my tank and shared the air with others. It was the use around the house that was draining down the tank. CO2 is better, of course, but it is more specialized. I have beer mix, so I do know about it.

It obviously takes longer with my Viair, as I noted in the first post that you quoted. It has yet to be an issue as the chatting has always gone on longer than the airing up or down. Wheeling days are not rush days.

Our inverter is rated at 400w. This husky air compressor is 336w and the inverter handle it fine. As long as anything you plug into the outlet is under 400w, you should be good. I do notice that if I have the engine off, the compressor will have a difficult time running (not the inverter). Just start your engine and you’re good to go.
If you have a bigger compressor, get a separate inverter. I also have a 2000w inverter ready to go when I need to use my bigger air compressor.

My compressor always gets so hot I don't see how mounting under a seat is a good idea.

I believe that DesertDoesIt has or is working on an aluminum panel to go over the top of it to protect the bottom of the seat, but they don't use one and say it gets pretty warm but they've never had a problem, as well as anecdotal tales from others saying they have never had it burn or melt anything either. At the end of the day you could always stick a metal sheet over it and call it good if it really bothers you.

I'll just keep it behind the seat and pull it out when needed. Don't see the reason to mount I guess.

Just in case this helps anyone, it was pretty easy to mod the DeWalt box for the compressor. Using some vinyl gloves (always handy) and my DMM to keep it in place as a kit:
