You may want to double-check your install, there's no need for the locking nut.

 

I know its not needed but I used them in addition to the threaded weld nut. They will never fall out or come loose now. Plus I didn't have any Loctite handy and my order didn't come with any.

 

I'm on a one inch block, they don't touch. Also I personally think they do well together. I ran the fronts for a few days and put the rears on yesterday, the ride has improved, just overall a big improvement. I don't haul or tow anything however I do go to the lake a few times a year and sometimes I carry about 500 lbs but it never had too much squat. I'm lifted about two inches in the front on 5100s . Everything works better in my opinion. I happy I did the rears after the fronts so I was able to feel the difference.

 

Welp, I finally got the fronts installed and ironically it was super easy to remove the oem bump stops but I had to angle grind about a quarter inch of the bolt to get the sumos installed.

I couldn’t get the thread started because it was so tight against the LCA, even with the wheel off the ground.

Feels like the front sits about an inch taller and side body roll is practically gone. Definitely dampens the little jarring in the steering wheel.

 

Great to hear! I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the rears to complete the package. with the pro/fox bypass shocks it rides pretty well in the rear as-is but loaded down there is more squat with the softer springs back there so I have no doubt it'll take care of that and if there's even a mild further improvement in handling, etc., I'm all for it given the relatively low cost of these.

You don’t need to cut the bolt to install them. Put a floor jack under the cross member in the front and raise the truck to relax the suspension, angle the bump stop with the bolt lined up, then tap it with the side of your fist so the SummoSpring compresses enough to line up under the threads, then hand spin it on. When it’s 90% threaded in, put a drop of the included thread lock on (so it is on the portion of the threads that will be in the welded nut).

No need to grind the bolt down, or use the included nut. The nut is included for different applications that don’t thread into a welded nut, and there are instructions included that show this.

If you I have a floor jack and channel lock pliers handy, the whole removal and install literally takes no longer than 15 minutes for both sides.

Has anyone put the front Sumos on a stock SR5? Worth the $200?

 

My guess would be that the less refined your suspension, the more benefit you'd get out of these. I'd also guess you'd notice a slight lift in the front if you're on stock SR5 shocks, but either way you should feel things cushion out during normal driving, smoother off-road and certainly improved handling/reduced body roll.

 

I have them on the rear of my stock SR5 for camper towing duties and loved that they helped with body roll. I’m interested in hearing about how the front rides on a stock taco.

Installed it today. Tested it on rutty fire roads . Stock 2017 off-road long bed. Initial impression are what others have said. Absorbs small road imperfections and doesn’t transmit to the steering wheel. Eliminated the lean on turns . Rides better . Doesn’t bottom out in dips. Most of all, feels planted on fire roads at speed. No bottoming out . Just for this , I highly recommend this for those with stock off-road suspension who want better off-road handling . This should come stock in all off-road models . Ooops almost forgot, almost fixed the taco lean. Thanks @TheRedComet for creating this thread.
