Yea the guy I'm referring to has thick skin. He stopped by my office one day and asked me how it was going one day and I said "I'm busier than a one legged man in an ass kicking contest." He cried he laughed so hard but I'd never say something like that to a stranger.

I’m generally fine with e-bikes. Personally I like the fitness aspect and challenge of riding a non-electric bike but I don’t expect everyone to share my desires or views. Different strokes you know?

The biggest adjustment for me is how much faster on flat or uphill they are. Normally if someone catches me, I can somewhat judge how long I should wait to pull over or give them room so they can pass. E bikes will blow by me before I even realize they are there!

    That’s some bullshit right there.
Yes, stretch will cause shifting issues. No, shifting up and down the derailleur will not fix it. You can simply screw that barrel adjustment at your shifter to trim up some of that slack. Best done in the offending gear. Check out some youtube university videos.
I should make the Moab trip…. Maybe.
    Whaaa?!

Ah shit… Burro is the reason to go. Guess I might wait till October …
    So…. Much fun. Hooligan fun.
Ha! There it is, the REAL reason you don’t like em
It’s just fun, reminds me of how I felt riding bikes as a kid.
It’s worth having one around if you can swing it. Really makes those mellow blue trails stupid fun. Gaps, jumps, turn slaps, that never existed before. Like riding new trails.
Still ride my enduro 80% of the time, but love every ride on the Decoy.

Clarification: Burro trail not technically closed. The top of Geyser Pass road is….until November.

you could always ride up Burro or over by Oowah lake (Clark/Moonlight Meadows)

I'm not trying to convince you one way or the other, but comparing my whoop data from normal rides to e-rides is that normal rides have a higher max HR and a lower average due to having to ride slower after pushing it. The e-ride has a lower max but a higher more consistent HR. The calorie difference (for whatever its worth) is typically about 3-400 less on the e-bike.

I'll be happy to break out the Stumpjumper when the weather cools off... maybe. :p

GF sold her Epic for an e-bike and is already shopping for a hardtail for endurance events. :bananadead:

hmm. yeah. good clarification. i've heard from the shuttle companies that they'll be back on the road in October. The road was closed for the lognest time becuase of fires and subsequent investigation and mitigation. As far as I was able to find for the longest time, they were supposed to be closed as the order hadn't been rescinded but the shuttles were actively shuttling to the top for some time. :/

Burro is such a crapshoot from like mid-September on anyways and in my experience, every shuttle company is different. You’re best bet is to go with the flow and just start where they drop you.

I would love an ebike to take over when I start hearing my hearbeat in my ear. I am way out of shape but enjoy riding and flying downhill.

So a dude on a e-bike on the trail having the time of his life. That’s all I want.

If it means more fun I am in. I already work 20 hours a week at my 40 hour job!

There's tons of riding in the SLO area.
Check on FB for groups, etc. Also doesn't hurt to ask fellow mtbers you run into on the trail.

yea as much as i dont like fb, its the main place to find events around you. you can try IG (pretty much the same thing).

you can check local bike shops. some breweries/tap rooms have local rides near me, they're also real close to trails.

isnt the path bike shop (they do a podcast) around there? im sure they know whats up

edit: the path is closer to LA that SLO. i thought i remember SLO being a huge bike hub with cal poly? there?

This is exciting. Even if it’s a big terrifying wood tabletop….

it’s the first tabletop of any kind we have around here..

Just curious, is anyone here interested in a Sram X01 Crankset, it's superboost plus.

I know there's not many guys here with superboost bikes, but figured I'd post here before Pinkbike.

They're 170mm, little booties on bottom, and 32t (need to confirm that) chain ring.
I was thinking $300 for them. You pay shipping, I pay PP fees.

It's not a huge upgrade as far as feel, but weight is noticeable **in hands** and you look balling and cool at the vehicles until you hit the trails.

I've read reviews claiming it's noticeable with less rotating mass, more forgiving on trail chatter, etc... but MTB has all of the marketing fuzz so who really knows.

Anyone hear of trifox bike frames? Looks like a labeled Chinese carbon frame for $500?

I was able to mount our tandem bike on the side of the bed rack. Did a quick search and couldn’t find one that would work. So I made one using unistruts and it came out pretty good and sturdy.
