    a lot lol
I catch my self all the time looking at new: Tacomas, FJ's, etc.. And when driving home from my Girlfriends house tonight i came to realize how much i REALLY LOVE my truck. I have no clue what im thinking looking at a new truck (as if i could afford it), but i couldnt see my self parting from my 1st gen. It's something about it that just makes me attacted. How many of you feel the same about your first gens? why are they so hard to get rid of?

I feel the same way. I love my 1st generation mostly because of the way it looks. I wanted one ever since I borrowed a friends new one in 1998 while in Guam. Then they changed the grill and I didn't like it. However, it grew on me and I bought mine in 2004. Then boy oh boy the 2nd gen came along and Toyota dropped the ball on the looks. UGH! Hit the ugly tree and all the branches fell on it..LOL

i know exactly how you feel, i always look back at my truck when i walk away. even with over 200,000 miles she still purrs like a kitten and has never let me down. i want a newer truck but i cant make up my mind on whether i want a 2nd gen or a 1st gen with low miles

yea i feel the same, when i was 18 i bought an 03 brand new after 6 years and 60k miles I sold the truck for $18,200 (700 less than i paid for it) then got a 98 sold it for more than i paid for it. I think 1st gens keep their value. I am in a 02, but i don't think i am sellin this one. 1st gens are are getten harder and harder to come by with low miles.
Also there are better cheaper mods for 1st gens.

I cant ever not own a truck and its got to be a 1st gen tacoma

I've never owned a 1st Gen but I ALWAYS admire them when I see them around town. I also like the older Tundras.

    Cheers.

Thats the only downfall to the DC. I can't pull my honda around. it Fits with the tailgate down, i just have to strap her down real good with ratchet straps.

You've got the right idea. I've always kept a toyota truck around.. for the most part. When I got my 99.. I felt.. Ok.. its not a good as my pre-tacoma trucks... but it makes it up in comfort and quiet (the old 22 engines came right through that firewall).. then I got my 2nd gen. It reminds me more of my 99 tahoe than my 99 tacoma in quality and utillity.
Bulky, inefficient, doesn't seem to be as durable. giant ass cup holders like you find in a hyundai mini van. Only thing was, I had to fit my kids in there, so, the 1st gen was out. not going to deal with the sliding seat or the double cab. The access cab is just enough space. But its no toyota. Not saying its worse than a frontier, dakota or ranger.. but its not up to toyota standards pre-american market toyota. WHat you lack in luster, you will make up for in satisfaction.

Frankly if it weren't for the rear seats in the ranger, its probably the better truck.
