Okay I need outside opinions to settle this debate. Is it worth paying the $3k-4k for a overkill Icon/King/Fox suspension kit or will a Eibach Pro Truck or Bilstein 5100 kit suffice? I would consider myself a “weekend warrior overlander” if I had to classify what the build is used for

Access or double cab? I think people are getting close to that with 6112s at the top setting.

How much off-roading are you actually doing on these weekends?

Unless you’re crawling rocks I’d say No, $4k is overkill.

It also depends how much maintenance you want to do.

There are some great videos on youtube to help you decide.

Yeah that’s what I was leaning towards.

I’m not doing anything serious in the rocks but I am going out to Moab in March and I’d like to be able to do some slightly more technical trails.

I’ve heard some great reviews on the Eibach kit, but I’ve also heard a lot of people talking shit about TacomaBeast so that’s why I wanted to ask y’all.

The Eibach kit on my coworkers truck rode really nice. I bought 5100's and hated it, tried a few different front springs and was never happy so when a set of new set of Kings were posted for $500 off I jumped on it. Have been very happy with the move.

You could be happy with Ironman Foam cell pros. The full kit is under 2K- my only gripe with them is that the ride was too stiff at 3” lift. I’m about 2.5” and the ride is just slightly too stiff. I do have E rated tires, so that can’t be helped. I also have the higher spring rate coils. depending on the extra weight you might have on your truck. There are 827# and 730# springs to choose from. There is a lot of info in this thread. My review of them is here.

just a clarification - did you get leaf packs or full leaf replacement? how did you like the leaf packs/full replacement? right now I keep going back and forth between leaf packs or fully replacing the springs.

OP - I would agree that a 4k setup is probably not needed. I had 5100 front and rear with toytec springs on the front and SWAY-A-WAY springs on the rear of my 4R - rode better than stock and gave the clearance I wanted for 285/70-17 KM2s. To hyrule's point - ironman is currently running a 25% off on backordered kits. Has me considering over the eibach and OME approach. I guess, from what I can gather, Ironman seems to be an OME competitor

Not sure I understand the difference with your question on leaf packs or full leaf replacements. I got the two new leaf packs with my kit and then the two shocks for the rear. So far, I’ve had no issues with them. There was a squeak back that at one point, but I think it was something else and not leaf pack. My only regret was not getting the constant leaf packs and taking out a few leaves. I don’t think I’ll ever put enough weight in the back to justify the extra support but they would have been the same price.

sorry - that was confusing (reading that now). I meant add-a-leaf vs leaf pack. Sounds like the latter? Also, I did see you mentioned that in your review with the squeak - I'm sure it was just lube issue. As well, that's a good point on the constant load leaf pack (will have to consider that)...

I thought that might be what you meant but wanted to double check. You are right, full leaf packs. They weigh a lot more than the stock ones too lol.
