Seriously! Once it's curbside it's free! I rescued a Razor scooter from someone's garbage once in like 2004; It was missing the front wheel. I had another Razor scooter and a bunch of parts, so I put a new wheel on it, rode it for a bit, and gave it to a neighborhood kid when we moved...

My original scooter was a genuine Razor; My parents bought it for me in 2000 when those things were all the rage...

The scooter I rescued from a neighbor's garbage can in about 2004 was branded as Harley-Davidson but likely manufactured by some off-brand.

I pulled the back off of the fan; Porter is a bit scared of it and approached it cautiously...

Good time to check the switch with a multimeter too

I'm guessing the previous owners didn't oil it every three months...

I'd start with cleaning it up and some oil/grease. Then go from there. Often times electric motors can have parts in them designed to fail if they get too hot. Those two are the most common reasons these get sent to the landfill aside from being outright broken.

I do not have one of those; Luckily, I work for a defense contractor where we build unmanned aircraft and I'm sure an electrical engineer will loan me theirs...

Good time to buy one! There’s some decent ones for not much money and they’re great for all kinds of electrical problems.

Try working the switch through all positions ten times or so. Might just be dirty if you’re really lucky

Is it dead dead or do you hear anything? Can you nudge the blades along?

Definitely looks dirty, but I find most things I restore simply need a good and thorough cleaning

Too many trucks and mods to list.. check builds
It looks to be in good shape body wise… wouldn’t toss it for sure… I bet the switch is worn out… at least that’s what the old fans I use in the garage has issues with… same vintage too

Time to take the ol girl apart. As someone said you can use a multimeter to see if you're at least getting power beyond the switch.

Would spraying WD-40 into the motor be a bad idea?

However, I am going into work tomorrow and can use a multimeter there!
