I chose placing it in a aesthetically pleasing position. Probably would be better closer in towards the squirters directly over the manifolds.

 

Those follow the contour of the hood profile. I like it.

I saw a solid 15° cooler IAT’s in the summer when I added mine. Not much, but when the intake is close to the motor, every little bit counts. Low 90’s outside and I was borderline the tune pulling timing because IAT’s being too high

 

Nice I have wondered about it getting to warm in there. Especially on hot days like you noted. Truck is a big heat mess in days like that. Hoping the efan and trans cooler I got help out. Still going back and forth on the 160 therm. My hoods scratched and dented up so it’s a good candidate to do something like this.

 

I mean it is not an end all be all solution to keep the engine cool, but for me it was an aesthetically pleasing and cheap solution. If it did nothing than a meth injection setup was going to be my next call. Still might come some day but I like my washer fluid and don’t have much room for another reservoir lol. Already rocking a much smaller 1gal washer fluid one to clear tires at bump

It certainly helps air escape to an easier path.. On the passenger side you do have the intake right over the manifold. I think that may be a good reason to go with a CAI (which I think you have) that removes the OEM filter housing for an intake pipe that runs off the throttle body and avoids the heat soak.
Edit: once you're moving, I'm sure there's some pressure difference between the engine bay and outside. But sitting at a stop, it's beneficial.

Any mod-heads here have a pre-2010 T4R/Tundra/Seq with the 4.7 V8? I'm looking for a test mule.

It’s also the non vvti or single vvti or wtf ever it has. It’s not the 05+ with more hp

qquick qquestion. is there a write up on here for the installation of the exhaust cam gears? i have the service manual and can go by that, was just hoping someone did a better write up with real pics

Is there a good true service manual for 2nd gens ? I haven’t been able to find one
