You could also switch (if you have a android) what type of tower's your phone will look for. Helped me in a bind a couple times.

inReach mini would be your best bet. You would ALWAYS have reception.
I picked one up this year and it's awesome.

My friends got one last year and its not as good as we expected. We were up in the UP and we were pretty damn remote and none of us had signal. They were trying to get the Inreach to send a simple check in and they could not get it to go threw or see if they received anything until we got out of the forest on a wider road. We were guessing the trees were the issue but we still had a clear shot to the sky, granted it wasn't a big area. I'm use they wouldn't have any problem in open areas but if you are in the woods or forests it might not work.

Yeah that's because it's a satellite device. Being in a tight but open area doesn't mean one of the satellites are directly above you. You might need to climb a tree or something like that. It's no different than satellite radio; useless in a tunnel...

Garmin uses the Iridium Satellite Network. They have one of the most coverage around the world. 100% apparently. It says they have 75 satellites up there!

I have an inreach mini for when I ride long distance on the motorcycle. I think I pay $14/mo? And you can pause/resume your coverage with no fee, if I remember correctly. I keep it strapped to my backpack and it's a nice little piece of mind device that pulls double duty in the real rig, too.

Mine didn't drive right out until I gave each of them a large helping of plasma. After that, the remains ran out with the air hammer.

I like that I can start and stop my service with Bivy Stick. Only using it when I am planning on being out of reach.

I do think so. It looks the same without the trailer.

not sure how the rates compare but you can do that with garmin too. I just get the annual plan because it’s a few bucks cheaper and I play in the backcountry year round.

not trying to sell you by any means but It’s nice to have options.
