Try the ECT power button first and see if that helps, it provides more aggressive automatic transmission shift points, good for around town driving. Also make sure you don’t still have your foot partly on the brake as you move it over to the gas pedal that can cause it to stall (warning will pop up on your display). If it’s just gearing down then you might have a delay when you start back accelerating - in that case give it more gas and it should pick back up quicker. Doesn’t sound right to me though, if nothing else helps I would have the dealer check it out.
Shouldn’t have to have a tune to fix an abnormal problem like a big hesitation or stalling. If that’s “normal” for a V6 Im glad I got the 4 cylinder, though post #11 indicates a similar problem and gives good advice if indeed it is normal for the V6.

    You either have a:
    TRD Sport
    or a:
    TRD Pro

there is no TRD Pro Sport.

Just FYI, that’s why so many people are asking/trolling. If your side bed stickers say “sport” then you have a TRD Sport.

And to fix your problem get the KDMax tune, don’t bother with the OV tune (imo)

Common complaint on the 3rd gen auto. Factory tuning seems to be the fault based on what I have read. Consider an aftermarket tune maybe?

Idk for sure since mine is M/T... and the lag in shifting is just my fault if that were to happen.

Also, TRD Pro Sport? A typo or did Toyota sneak in another package recently?

Or it looks like my rig.

    A genuine TRD Sport... pro...

Or TRD Sprot as I call it.

Just buy a Sport and pick up a pro grille from Cali raised and take some googone to your Sport bedside decal.

    Boom.. TRD Pro Sport.

I haven't seen anyone mention the ECT button as an easy improvement for the poor factory shift points. I have a new 2021 Tacoma and its night and day when I put the ECT button on.

Thats probably your issue running premium fuel. I can tell my 2020 doesn't like it. The transmission will hunt with premium. Run regular 87 its a much better truck, no hunting, and more power. Some can be their own worst enemy.

Come on now there's a wide line between fooling around and trolling. I gave her a real response in the second post and then make a joke later.

My 2018 does exactly the opposite. It hunts for gears and there’s lag accelerating on 87 octane gas and drives perfectly on premium.

I have a 2021 OR that does the same thing. There’s only one place in town it happens though. It’s a 45mph road to a super tight right turn on to a side street that happens to be going down a hill. Weird spot. The engine will rev when I give it any gas so I just coast down and let the momentum gain tell the transmission to shift. Then it’s all good in the hood.

You are wasting your money, zero benefit running "premium" on a stock Tacoma unless you own stock in the oil-gas companies.

Take the truck to the dealer just so your "compliant" is noted in the trucks history so that if anything goes wrong later you can show Toyota you've been complaining about it since the truck was new.

What is it with people? No one can have a problem you don’t? Bunch of 4 year olds. It’s common with these trucks, yet still, the attacks.
