Yeah I've gotta do my biennial smog test before the end of the year. I go to the same place each time and am usually in/out in 5 or 10 minutes.

Luckily since I have an 04 I don't have to do the tail pipe/dyno test in CA. But I still sweat bullets. Mostly because of my 7th injector kit which is not smog legal but they never notice it.

I was supposed to get my truck smogged in Aug but had to replace my alternator and now my cat monitor wont set. all the others are ready. I just installed a new rear 02 sensor tonight to see if that was the problem. I did find another problem though. my supercharger is leaking its fluid into the rotorpack. so I'm thinking that burning the supercharger fluid is why the cat monitor won't set. you guys might rip me on here for this but I refilled it with stop leak diff fluid/alumaseal just so I can get my smog out of the way before the rebuild.

the Local guy I go to is a dick so I'm thinking about pulling my 7th off before I go in. last time he hassled me because I had covers over my cats and he could not read the numbers so he failed me for a visual inspection and made me come back with the covers off.

    Good job.

Why do you say it's leaking fluid into the rotorpack? If it's anything like the 2nd gen supercharger there would be no real way of knowing that.

I have a 2nd gen and I know its going through past the shaft seal because Its not leaking out anywhere and The fluid is going somewhere.. when I first found there was a problem it was almost empty and I had just checked the fluid a week before. tonight I opened it back up and it had eaten about an ounce since last week. When I rebuild it I'm thinking of getting one of the venom cooler nose cones from steigmeir

Ohh. I see what you mean. Okay that makes sense. I would skimp on the venom nose cone coolers. There haven't been any experiences that indicate much benefit from them. Definitely not for what they cost.

my supercharger made it 13k before the seals failed. the venom cooler would work in theory to transfer heat away from the nosecone bearings/seals.

This is for the second gen right?

That part of the blower doesn't see high temperatures which is why you don't see anyone running them. Like literally no one in the group we have in the super thread.

He's talking about a 2nd gen 1st gen Tacoma supercharger, you're talking about a 2nd gen Tacoma supercharger

It's a common mix up on here lol. There were two generations of TRD blower for 1st gens

aluminum soaks heat up and dissipates it quickly. the nose bearing and the oil surround what the venom cooler cools. It would without a doubt pull some heat out of both those areas no one has it because it does not enhance performance. It does save bearings and seals from cooking though

That much is true. It's not a performance item for sure, it's just a heat remover.

Sending the rotorpack off to be recoated. Also seems like there is slight play between the two rotor assemblies, almost like they tap each other when I grab them and try to move them. Is this normal?

Hopefully your replacing the rotor pack bearings?
There can be play if these are worm,
If the rotors have play tapping each other as shown in the photo that’s normal because they
are not being held in place where the needle bearings go
