I just don’t get it, I mean I understand the market is super hot and there’s competition but dang.
It’s not like we’re unqualified, good credit, good rental history, good paycheck.

So I need to get caught up. Is this for another rental or to purchase a home ?

:pccoffee: Good Morning everyone! Off on a hunt for some slotted angle steel for the greenhouse today. Probably going to have to stop at EACH Lowe's and Home Depot and get one stick at a time. I ordered it from San Marcos, where they had "stock", but they cancelled the order. So, it's a road trip.

Saturday? Cactus Land Brewery? Noon? Good beer, same food truck, and a short meet up for relaxing?

Still just rentals for now. We weren’t planning to buy for a while yet and are trying not to get pushed into it before we’re really ready.

Rental rates are crazy, no way in hell would I ever consider renting throwing $10 to $18k away each year. If you have the means and time, continue to save until you can buy.

I mean, we could afford a modest house right now. We just don’t want to buy here, and we’re not in a position to leave yet so, rock and a hard place.
We have medical expenses we’re dealing with right now as well and dropping 10-12k on a down payment and closing costs immediately would hurt.

And that 10-12K is not even a years worth of rent, money wasted.

You know your situation best, bottom line.

Try and stick it out longer at inlaws and save that $1,000 to $1,800 month until your ready to buy and or move out El Paso as well, but if yall are even considering Colorado, cost of living, goods and services is so much more there, than in Texas.

Owning a home is a form of building wealth, even if that means cutting back on a retirement account to own a home, renting is building easy wealth and more equity for the owner of the house/apartment.

Chas, you decide what is best for your family right now. If it means continuing to rent then do so. Especially if where you are currently living is not where you want to settle. About the process of finding a place, I wish you luck.
