I had threaded bungs added to my radiator when I was working with Ron Davis on it. I got a threaded sensor from Darrel for it.

Cool, I’ll iron that out today.

The more I looked at things, this setup is a pretty good value. CSF has its quality control/fitment issues and questionable customer service; AFE needs a small shroud tweak and both are way thinner.

The e-fan kits out there don’t seem ideal either. I’ve read some issues with the flex-a-lite, its only a single fan, the shroud is rather generic and probably leaves some of that fan’s cooling potential on the table.
The DEO fan seems like a decent design, but for $1k I think the Ron Davis shroud is better for less $. I was following the DEO thread a while back, but don’t recall much about it.

Plus, like you’re saying, RD can customize for your needs.

So, I think if I was going to stay with the fan clutch I would have gone with the AFE, but the RD E-fan shroud makes spending a little extra on a superior heat exchanger an easy decision - for me anyway.

This is what Ron Davis sent me this week in terms of cost to duplicate Torspds setup.

That's about 1K less than what I paid for my setup.... Better make sure the fans are included. Also, I added the custom charges, custom and quite bitchin overflow tank and auto tranny cooler for my costs......

In June I was quoted $2552 with fans and shroud. Mine is an auto.

Alicia at Ron Davis just offered me a manual trans radiator (no trans cooler) in case I didn’t want to wait for the one I ordered.

It’s up for grabs if anyone is interested. $1836 plus shipping. You can give her a call at the main number for more details.

They are suffering labor and material difficulties like many manufacturers out there; might be a good time to jump on this if you’ve been thinking about it.

Would this one fit the Tacoma? I’m auto but have all intentions of putting trans coolers in the bed. Was there a build spec for it?

Yeah, it would work if you had a separate trans cooler. Try calling to see if they still have it.

I have a separate cooler up front but plan to run it out back eventually. Did the RD have fans included? I’ll call tomorrow.

I’m not sure what the finished product was exactly, didn’t ask, but they offer the fans, shroud and relays. I opted for no relays which took off $200 from the price tag and will be installing an Auto Cool Guy controller.

I think you’ll find that Ron likes auto’s to use the integrated cooler for autos. Still good to use auxiliary cooler but the integrated cooler also heats up the transmission in cooler months. It maintains a target temperature.

Yeah. I currently have mine looped still with the radiator. I’ll have to decide if I would like to keep it this way, if I still planned to take this out into cold enough weather or not. Do you have pictures of yours mounted in the fj?

I saw that one, I was more curious if the lower end of it by the frame rails. Without a bumper if you had one. If not, no biggie.

I don’t have that right now, but I’m fixing to pull the front bumper here shortly. If I do, I’ll let you know
