Did anyone ever find/recommend an alternate fuse for pump that doesn’t go on/off intermittently when truck is off?

All I remember is that the suggestion was to set up your own power tap hooked up to a relay that is triggered by an ignition-powered source.

I can't leave anything well enough alone
While I can't argue that a separate ignition controlled relay is best - is there any real issue having it hooked to the evap system, which does random tests? If it kills your battery, I'd argue the battery was on its way out anyhow. Did it scare you when it came on? Who cares? - my hybrid vehicles make all sorts of noise when they are off...

When hooked to the evap system the way the instructions tell, does the pump run when the ignition is at acc, or only on/run? I'm trying to decide if I want extra complication in the system, and I can't recall what the original complaint was with it connected to the evap system. Thanks in advance

I think the original complaint was camping and having it go on….

mom not sure it’s worth the hassle either but I was also thinking I could probably use similar fuse tap style to a circuit in dash if I didn’t want to worry about an additional relay that could fail unknowingly to me although unlikely

There's already a relay used to turn on that pump (mine was located between the rad and headlight area) so you'd just need to change the trigger wire from the efi circuit to a different trigger.

No additional relays need to be added.

That pump scared me a few times when super focused and working in the engine bay and it would turn on randomly.

Hey @Roostfactor so the Temp measured is air temp not the liquid, correct?

At first I was imagining liquid temp check in the lines but most of those seem to be 1/8” tapped and the Davtron specs are 5/16. Might be too big for 3/4” line

I could not get mine to stick well no matter what I used.

I brake cleaned the crap out of it. Roughed up the metal for adhesion. Tried both super 77 and high temp RTV and the last time I took the lid off the gasket was barely clinging on so I said fuck it and yanked it out.

I never did try a new gasket.

I theorize Meth injection may have something to do with it.

Alcohol (methanol) will soften the adhesive. I'm surprised RTV didn't work.

I’ve gotten so used to the pump going on that it doesn’t matter anymore.

i need to get on this. truck is weird at 2500-3000. sounds like its lean and gravel in the sc. fine everywhere else. fine WOT but under load and before the downshift kicks in because of pedal position and low rpms. looking forward to a more lively tune.

I brake cleaned the living hell out of mine and then scuffed up the surface with some 180 grit then applied Hondabond RTV to it. It's been holding great since.

I think it is your meth injection throwing you for a loop here.

Really! My truck is a 2005, I've owned since 2012, and can't say that I know what the sound is when it runs. I thought it did it in the middle of the night, only on random days every week or less. You have heard it a lot? What does it sound like and how often and how long does it run for? Is there any difference in that system over the years, maybe we have different systems or algorithms or something.
