2022 Tundra Redesign

J300 Land Cruiser powertrain, frame, and suspension. A lot of similarities with the released Tundra teaser pics. Engine cover looks the same:

 

Rear bumper got the SUV treatment - it's now fully encased in a plastic shell integrated with the bedsides:

 

If that's actually the new Tundra. That's Terrible. It looks like a Honda Ridgeline.

 

Crap...I have been really interested in the new Tundra. That is the body I'd want, DCLB and something looks off. Not sure what but it doesn't look right.

The other truck I'm really liking is a diesel 1500 ram. I have huge anti ram trucks, but my buddy had a 20' that got totalled in a hurricane flood, and he replaced it with a 21' ecodiesel. Both drive amazing, and the diesel is so smooth, and get 27 mpg's. I love driving i, and our Mercedes diesel sprinter at work. Main problem with the diesel ram is finding a dclb instead of crew cab( and afraid of future ram rot).

 

The price of Ford stock probably went up the moment these picutures posted. Why do the wheel well overhangs hang lower on the bed than they do on the front fenders?

 

Because the rear axle is now 4-link like on the Land Cruiser, Toyota may have lengthened the body line to hide the rear axle lower links

 

It's very reminiscent of a GM from on the sides. Interior isn't bad. But that exterior, overall, is ugly as sin. Especially that grille. Then again I've not really liked the designs of any of the Tundras.

 

That's the functional reason I was leaning towards. I don't know why they would hide that on the production vehicle.

It is. Same camo from all the spy photos.
I think it’s just a long bed version but not an HD version (only 6 lug wheels). Although, it’s nice to see they finally upgraded from 5 to 6 lugs.

 

The Pro takes it way too far with the accessories. Clearance lights on a truck that doesn’t even have any increased track width? All red seats? I’m sure someone would like those but that’s a hard pass from me.

 

The photo you commented on…the truck almost looks lowered does it not? That’s what looks odd to me.

 

It's real. It matches all of the photo leaks from the past several months including those Toyota has posted.

I see what you mean, but thats the new norm. Lower vehicle height improves aerodynamics, and MPG.

 

Maybe it’s a visual illusion because it’s a long bed. Other new trucks I see on the road don’t look nearly that low.

 

The speculation and rumors will end this weekend. Toyota will release the Kraken on Sunday 9pm EST!!!

 

The new tundra is honestly one of the few vehicles I've truly been excited for the release of. sadly I'm expecting to be disappointed.
