That's a good way to limit something from skyrocketing, for example if a company decides to open up a hub in BFE western MA, suddenly BFE where stuff was worth F all is now worth half a mil. Keeps stuff in check.

Damn $25/1000 is fucking dumb IMO. I thought we were high here at ~$17/1000.

    Also, get off my lawn,:bananadead:

Residential is 21.50/k here. But our values are a lot lower. 2 minutes down the road, I am in Seekonk, same area same feel, etc etc but the values are twice as much if not more. MA is expensive

Same, I hate it. There’s no way it’s good for the car. My car has some crackles and pops when I shift, but nothing that would be heard more than 20 feet from the car, I don’t think.

There’s a hilarious video around I can’t seem to find again where a guy is revving a car and someone pops out from the hatch and bangs a plastic bottle on the ground and it sounds just like a burble tune.

My STi was loud, sure, but I took pride in how smooth it was tuned. I also didn’t drive like an @sshat 99.5% of the time.

NH is low on taxes, and the should be with their motto.

New Hampshire, live with all our fees or die.

They have low income tax but high property tax. It all levels out in the wash. If you have a normal house and drive normal cars and work a normal job that will pay based on local COL then - it all balances out pretty well even wherever you go.

No income tax, and property tax is on the higher side, but I don’t think it’s all that high.

Nah - NH is on the low end of that tax burden list. But the flip side is where it shows. Roads are mediocre. Public transport is nowhere (MAYBE some busses around Manchester and Nashua?). School system is decent but - mass and Maine on either side are better.

NH has a small goobment. It shows on the goods and the bads of it. Not that it's right or wrong - just that it's up to people to decide if they want that or not.

And if they don't - don't move there then complain (cough cough California New York)

Anyway. I need to replace my license plate light again. Hopefully the bit that's busted is easily fixed because it's a wire. Woopsies.

NH is on my very short list when I pull the rip cord.
I look at Zillow and Realtor daily like an addict.
Property taxes are all over the board depending on what town,For the most part, they are still substantially less than what I am paying in my part of ct.

I stand corrected, NH is way up there on property tax. https://www.mortgagecalculator.org/helpful-advice/property-taxes.php

    O
nly 3 other states are higher according to this. But yes it averages out when you don’t have an income tax.

What surprised me - Lebanon is the largest metro area?! Manchester Salem Concord Nashua now I'm confused.

    Edit Rochester Dover Hampton etc.

Edit again - highest rates. Not most people oops. I assume they have a high rate and then a high homestead exemption - for the locals and all the non locals with ski condos etc.

Yeah, just the best price I found.

Mine are from the local motosports shop, and not as cheap.
Saw them in TS recently.. gonna add another....

    And Taxes...
Jersey being lower on the List than Texas surprises me...
    But...
While "taxes" in Texas are low, there is other things that will get you....

I think I agree to an extent with this. Having grown up in RI, lived in CT for school, and now living and working in NH I'd say it's one of those states that where you live within that state truly makes the difference. School systems being the major player, they seem to either be really good, or shit...not much in between as I've been told. In the last 6-7 years I've lived up here almost every major road and highway system I use has been repaved, even twice in that timeframe with certain portions of 93. Compare that to RI and CT, I don't think 95 in CT has ever NOT been under construction in some way, shape, or form that causes problems in my 28 years of life and RI probably has the worst roads one can drive in regards to maintenance in both the short and long term (I worked for the highway department for the city of Warwick in high school so I've seen it first hand). Definitely agree with public transit though, a few local bus stations but that's it but the obvious reason is accessibility given the region itself once you leave the cities.

California, Florida, and Texas made up a combined 27 percent of the U.S. population in 2015 but accounted for 48 percent of U.S. population growth between 2014 and 2015, according to new Census Bureau estimates.

Yup. Everyone's flocking to them. You see a lot of Ohio in the Carolinas too but that's a smaller group. TX cities are exploding.

Can't disagree. URI is a great civil engineering school. And then they all must leave because the tomfuckery that is the RI roads is just next level. So many non-standard setups "just because". Left hand exits, stop signs IN a roundabout, a dunkin donuts inside the roundabout, No left turn except 2:30-4:00AM during the harvest moon, etc.

My theory on RI roads - they get just as often snow and salt. We get a lot less snow, but it still snows let's say 2x week here and Maine. Down here, "we're warm" so "We don't get as much snow". So rebuilding roads is unexpected, where as in Maine "we got snow, of course we have to rebuild the roads". So RI is just f'ed up because "well, we shouldn't have to replace the roads, we're warmer and the south! And in a different climate!"

I'm loving it up here in NH, although I still work in MA as that's where my company is based out of so I am still paying MA tax. Hope to change that in the next year or two. OVerall the roads I daily on are 100x better than MA roads which suck even in my truck.

Edit - yea property tax is high but I got a lot more house within my budget than I would have in MA. An acre of land, good sized house and 4 bays of garage space and close to the highway and major city. When I looked in MA for something similar I was way out of my price range...
