Did the Toyota dealer just ruin my truck with this undercoat?

Does the vehicle history show 3 Winters in Maine? If so, that's allot of winter on that truck and I would have concerns. Hell, they may have applied it to cover up 3 winters of nasty.

My bro got the fluid coat and it's basically an oily mess. Drips all over everything. I hate it but I guess it's better than rust. You can't wash the oily stuff away. Not for me but I live in Dixie.

Don't sweat it. You could still do a yearly rustproofing of your own liking, regardless. The fluids will still creep in behind the rubberized frame.

The rubberized stuff is just for the frame, not the rest of the truck.

i use CorrosionFree, good stuff perfect for me since it is odorless unlike some other coatings that stink up your truck

OP, sorry this happened to you. That is a dirty move.

Did you see the condition of the frame before the undercoating?

If you didn't see the condition of the frame before, and the dealer sprayed this undercoating, I would 100% return the truck.

This is coming from someone who lives in PA, had their frame undercoated, and had their frame replaced. The undercoating certainly accelerated the rust issue.

    Also, post some pics please.

If it's rubberized I'd scrape it all off, hopefully without damaging the frame paint. If you accidentally scraped the frame paint repaint it with rustoleum paint then maintain with fluid film or cosmoline or similar stuff.
Rubberized coatings hold moisture that's why almost no one is using that anymore.

I can't imagine what kinda chore it would be to try to get that shait off.

From my experience w/dealers going below and beneath.. I wouldn't trust that the dealer prepped the frame properly.

Sucks OP but return it if you can.

Man you guys are bumming me out....but I'm afraid you're right. Although, I did see the frame of the truck before they did that shit (at least the frame I could see without crawling underneath it) and there were only a few spots of rust, maybe 2-3 silver dollar sized spots, but the rest of the frame look good, paint was all in tact, didn't see anything that looked like rust painted over, but I dunno...a long bed double cab is not exactly easy to come by, at least up here.

What a fucking bummer man...but it's a late model 2018 (truck was built in September of 2018), how much rust could it possibly have? The rest of the truck is pristine except for a few scratches.

honestly if i were you id try to work with them to have it professionally removed, its not something you want long term, plus youd also want to see if the front half of the frame where its fully boxed, is coated with the corrosion inhibitive wax. If all else fails just drive it for a bit and sell it when you see another that fits your bill.

On a side note you could do what others said where you brine the shit outta the frame yourself with a wetter fluid coating like NHOU, wool wax, or CorrFree

Soundproof? Yep rubberized. After 5 years your frame will look like this:

When I bought my 2018 brand new they applied a very thin rubbery undercoat. I assumed it would be okay on a brand new clean frame and knew I’d be applying oil coatings yearly. I have Krown oil spray applied every year on top of that since new and it all seems to have coagulated into a lovely sticky oily rustproof mess (good) The Krown seems to have absorbed into this coating and helped it spread. 3 winters later and no rust even when I scrape and check common rust areas. This coating isn’t as bad as that heavy thick rubber Ziebart type shit. Your truck will likely be fine if you get good oil rustproofing every year or two. It’s the preferred method.

If its fluid film or similar it can be washed away pretty easy using a power washer, or even a few visits to the car wash. Down here in connecticut we get a lot of rain with some good puddling. Fluid film will nearly all wash off by spring, and need to be reapplied by next fall. It doesn't drip either once dry....well maybe for the first day or two after applied.
