Thanks....I'm filtering two mugs of coffee. Nearly time to eject the filtered liquid. Then I need to get busy working on LOML's kitchen remodel. I'm getting the stink eye.............

Anyhow, the OP needs to verify the fluid level is correct by either the Temp Check procedure or take it to a dealer.

OP, you are not the first to make the mistake. Not a big deal, just take care of the error. Some owners will paint or label the transmission pan as a reminder.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL. There have been documented cases of this not being the fact. It's mass production dude. I always double check the fluids on the vehicles I purchase new or used.

Well that’s good news to hear that the factory fill level had been verified by dealer. Like other have stated, replace the drained fluid and maybe just a tiny splash more. I’m super anal about my vehicles and tend to over think things. If it was something that I found myself continuously thinking about I’d still take it to the dealer, tell them exactly what I had done and pay the price to know that it’s right. That’s just me though.

How would he know the difference? why did he choose the correct plug, but the wrong pan? not sure why you all think someone lying under a truck, looking up, and not knowing the difference between a transmission and an engine should be working on anything. Did he not notice the bright Red fluid, not Yellow oil?

    Golly .

Have seen this problem pop up time and time again .
    It happens .
Fix it and learn from a mistake that I guarantee will not happen again .
Thanks to Tacoma World ,now he is a pro at changing engine oil and also a pro at checking the transmission fluid level .

Zero thinking. These autos will run to 100k with barely changing the oil.

Once this tranny seemed to learn my driving habits, its been perfect from nearly the get go. I'm one that just can't believe a little less tranny fluid is going to make a big difference how they shift. Its gotta be a lot more than that, or something inside these transmissions are not acting like they should.

I knew a guy that did this and didn't catch his error. Drove his truck all weekend with zero Trans fluid and 12 qts of oil.

    Can't fix stupid.
