So after a 3 week wait, the front of my truck is finally rebuilt minus the grille. The owner of the shop called me the other day to tell me the parts place sent the wrong grille, bordered chrome with a charcoal interior instead of full chrome.

Fast forward today. He calls me back to tell me that the full chrome grille is going to take 2 weeks to come in. I am not going to wait for another 2 weeks truckless, that is ridiculous. What I'm thinking about is either put on the charcoal grille or drive it around grilleless until either the right one comes in or I can find a decent aftermarket grille. Any input on what you would do and any ideas for an aftermarket piece would be most welcome.

-The grille as per my estimate is 281.25 so I would have that much credited back to me for something aftermarket. Thanks folks.

you could use that money to get a color matched grill from toyotapartsbarn for probably 180 shipped. it'd only take a few days.

i am not sure if i'd drive around without a grille - maybe locally, but i'd not be that thrilled with the fins of my rad, etc being so exposed like that if i was on the highway.

yea.. Get your chrome grill yourself it won't take you 2 weeks. If you're paying for the work (vs insurance) have not bill it.

One small rock into the radiator will raise the cost of the grill. I wouldn't drive it without a grill.

One small rock can get through the grill.. granted with like a 70% less chance... but I don't have any big ol rock chips on my grill either. THey aren't that weak.. not till they're needing to be replaced anyway.
But better safe than sorry. If one was real worried.. zip tie some screen on there.
    for the sake of argument.
