I think the nearest fastenal to us is 2 1/2 hours or more away... they're also broken/crushed on the screen. Time for a new pair overall.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
This reminds me of years ago(1977 ?) someone dropped a Homer Simpson Meter

it got tossed in the trash by the big shot at the company .

I asked why it got tossed He says the needle no longer moves it is junk. Can I have it?

I pulled it out took a quick look a tiny sliver of plastic was blocking the needle 10 minutes later it worked just fine.

The lesson learned is don`t fix stuff when the big shot looks over your shoulder.

I should have grabbed the Meter when no one was around

Not like you have nothing else to do but jump in the truck and make a day of it breakfast and a late lunch

At my old job I said my resources were a crooked band saw, a wobbly drill press and a welder...

Made a few minor miracles happen over the years -- with way too much work.

Most times yes, but right now not being able to get certain bearings on high failure rollers is really getting scary. There's a retrofit project scheduled for this month, but it probably ain't happening due to not being able to get the bearings...

The old Simpson 260, awesome piece of gear! Somewhere I have one tucked away (in the archives).

They really like to do that out here, I’ve seen it more here than anywhere else I lived, by a large margin.

Good morning creed n crew. I wasn't feeling 100% yesterday and after not sleeping well, I knew at 2:30 in the morning I was going to call in work today. I don't think it's anything serious, just a little run down. Possibly just some major disappointment in current employment situation too. I need to remember just count my blessings as I've worked much harder jobs for less pay.
Anyhow off for 6 consecutive days woohoo.

All kinds of things are out of stock. I was in CVS yesterday and overheard a customer ask where the Q-tips were, the employee directed him to the aisle and finished with "if we have any". Can't get Q-tips...:(

Thanks so much for posting this! I was so curious about what a Homer Simpson meter was, and now I know!

Ironically I seen a whole shelf full of Q-Tips at the local Giant yesterday afternoon.

We can get the open un-greased bearings all day long, but finding the sealed permanently lubricated bearings has been a nightmare. We keep some of the open bearings as an emergency and pack them with grease, but they ain't gonna last long in the environment they're in...

EDIT: Hell, its been a hassle just to find wheel bearings for one certain electric tugger... o_O

They are a really nice, reliable meter - the old school technicians choice. The case however is made of Bakelite and will shatter if dropped so better a bench meter than a service call meter.

:rofl:I believe what happens in this situation is anyone who goes through the trouble of filing a claim will get a dime for their troubles and that big law firm make millions.

With a gentle touch you can usually pop the rubber seals out of a sealed bearing and put them in a new open bearing after you grease it. Not quite as good as a factory built sealed bearing but "less bad" than putting an open bearing in where you really need the sealed one.
