Modified my low range gas tank skid today. I sheared one of the stock mounting bolts off years ago and I'm not the biggest fan how this one bolts damn near to the tank itself. Overkill, probably, but without this it would be hanging off anyway.

Did a lot the last couple days, got the mock-up ready to test wheel position on my truck (moved slightly forward) and to make sure the shackle angle is close. Want to make sure I really test it all out before cutting in to the frame to french the main eye mounts.

Might have to do a little height control haha, the old setup was a bit lower...

And also helped my friend SAS his truck in a single day, was surprisingly easy. Started with this gross pickup IFS (which cycles like 6" max)

Went to this... (BTW it's on 285/75/16 for scale)

Mounted an balanced the free wheels and tires I got recently.
5th gen runner wheels and some 12/32 2020 dated falken wildpeaks. Couldn’t certify a 4runner with these tires because of road noise. So yea, these were up for grabs. impressed with how well they balanced (one wheel actually took 0 weight) they will be going on the red 2002

Those tires will dry rot and the wheels rust away before they’re roll down the road

I’ve actually got a kid willing to do the haul for both frames. I’m just working out details. A buddy I. Utah is going to grab the frame in SLC and hold it for the transport

Popped in a new trans mount this evening after dinner. I’d say this one was ready to retire, full separation on one side and almost a half inch of play in the center.

Part number in case is looking for one for a 4wd auto v6 double cab. Paid $180 at my local dealer, but you can fond them cheaper online. I only did it cause the 2 guys at the parts counter know their shit and have been super helpful getting me part numbers for weird shit. Figured I’d throw them a bone this time around for all their help in the past.

Won't frenching them in affect the shackle angle? Or will it be relatively minimal?

While I was playing around with resin, I figured I would finally get around to filling in the steering wheel emblem I had made. I think it came out pretty good, but I will definitely make some process improvements before the next one I do.

I added too much heat into the batch of epoxy I was using to fill in low spots. Unfortunately, this means it started hardening as I was using it and it led to some waviness/high spots around the wheel. I mixed up another batch and used it on the smooth parts once the other stuff was dry. This will reduce how much I sand in order to even out those parts. Here it is as it sits now

I'm told it should only affect height since the spring end is still in the same position at the shackle end and forward or backward placement of either the main eye or shackle hangers affects shackle angle the most as well as the leaf getting longer from compression. This shouldn't do much but lower the truck, which is my main concern.

Interesting, good to know. 63's have been on my list, so trying to learn as much as I can while I see other people do it.
