Got ya. I'll try to keep an eye out in here, got most of the parts together to get an engine in this thing. Hoping to have it ready for a local ride on Oct 17th. Was hoping a fall AOP meet or Winrock would pop up.

    Hey guys,

So I am looking at license plates now, and I'm looking at the "Friends of Sycamore Shoals Historic Area, Inc. " plates. What does the FW mean?

Tennessee has more specialty plates than one can reasonably count. Personally, I'm not sure they are worth the extra $$ you have to pay every year unless you're a real fan of whatever is being displayed.

I like the trout plate or any wildlife plate but the standard plate is OK for me. This one however blows my mind:

I had the Don't Tread on Me plate for several years. It's not worth double the price and I was also worried someone would dislike the political implications and vandalize my truck. Also don't like that that flag has been hijacked by assholes.

Have the trout unlimited tag. Got it cause I’m a avid fly fisherman/shit guide. The extra $35 proceeds go to that non-profit. Also covers my annual membership. Good organization I don’t mind giving my money too.

    to each their own.

Just an FYI trout unlimited helped shut down Tellico. So if you are an avid wheeler that may be a conflict of interest.

Not trying to influence anything or what people donate to, but just fireing up the way back machine to that closure mess when it went down in the mid 2000s.

Half of cost goes to the Sycamore Shoals state historic park as every other specialty plate, half the funds go somewhere interesting. I would NOT expect my truck to get vandalized out HERE with that plate, I'd hate to be wrong. As for it being hijacked by assholes, that would be an interesting convo lol.

I am not sure what the Gasden Flag has to do with the State historic park though..

Still on the fence about it, I DO like the regular plates and how they have the county on them..

FUCK TU and FUCK the USFS. They pulled some insanely shady shit to close Tellico down. I refuse to buy REI stuff because they support the Sierra Club that is hell bent on closing public land as well.

I don’t think the TU pulled some shady shit. However, we’re pressed in a horrible situation due to a state ran department that only cares about an exclusivity of a prized fish in TN so they can profit on it. Non-profit vs Government funded program. The government program will win everytime. TU although has completed some programs I have not agreed with in the past. In recent years has step up their game with education, River access, restoration and influence on Bristol Bay.

I think the state ran fisheries need to step up hatching procedures and reintroduce the native brook trout over the next couple in a high percentage VS rainbows. Yet, rainbows are cheaper and their hold over rate is higher YOY.

Both sides suck. But what we can agree on REI sucks and they’ll never get my money.

I Loved REI back in California but there stuff is very pricey. I use them the most for my Keen shoes / sneakers. I don't think an REI exists out here so will probably venture elsewhere anyway for outdoor stuff.

Curious why REI is so bad other than their prices...haha

I'm not a big fan of having the county on them. There are both positives and negatives to naming the county on the plate. Such as you can tell when someone is from out of town, and people traveling are more likely to have valuable possessions in their cars. That gives criminals a way to pick vehicles to break into. I've always had the veteran's plates, so I've not had to pay extra for them. But if I got a specialty plate it'd probably be that Gadsden flag or one of the wildlife plates.
