It’s basically a lead pencil so there isn’t a need to sharpen it more than the thickness of the lead.

 

As mentioned earlier, class offers all tools and consumables but one thing was mentioned by the instructor - "sometimes when multiple projects are going on and everyone is welding, you might end up waiting for an angle grinder"

I've got one already but it's cordless so thought I'd buy a corded setup so I don't have to worry about charging batteries, or having them 'walk off suddenly'

It's been to Iraq and back a few times with me; it's on a its second wristband

 

One can never have enough grinders .

with one grinder you spent more time changing between discs then getting anything done .

The important thing is that it fits your hand i have a few that got down graded to the helper tools over the years.

 

Ergonomics are definitely important! I was handling a few in-store until I decided the paddle style switch with lock out felt the most comfortable. Wasn't a fan of the switch being forward and on top of the tool. I've got a Milwaukee Ratchet that has the same style switch -



And yeah, the whole disc changing is one reason why I'll take everyone's advice here to own 2-3 at home.

Most of my tools are DeWalt but I wound up with two of those Milwaukees from work. Some contractors left them behind in several bins worth of stuff that I had to go through. The contractors didn't want them back (they would have had to pay to ship them to Romania) but we're not allowed to use them on the ship because they're 120v and the ship is 220v. I was told to toss them. So I did... right into my sea bag . It's nice not having to change out the disc when you're working on a project

I’ve been running those Vulcan gloves for a while, no complaints. I mean I’m not dragging them through the dirt or anything but they’ve held up well.
I have that hammer and wire brushes too, not much to say there since they’re pretty basic items. Hard to eff those up even for HF

That's why I went ahead and replaced some of them myself IE gloves and hood so far.

They have DeWalt angle grinders as well as HF ones....kind of odd how they ended up with 2 ends of the spectrum there.

 

Got a bunch of DeWalts and then had to switch gears after the budget meeting

 

Yeah it's been the opposite here; wife said pay the extra for quality. Then again she knows I'm a gun snob so yeah

Just got a pair of boots; comfy as hell Ariat Bold Workhog with carbon toe.

 

I’ve been using the Hercules angle grinders for a few years now and I’m really happy with them. I have the 7amp and 11amp versions. I use the 7 amp for cutting wheels and the 11 amp for flap discs.

The first grinder I bought when I started welding almost 18 years ago now is a ryobi. I figured I’d buy a “cheap” one because “I won’t use it much”. When I got more serious about welding I told myself I’d buy a good one when the ryobi took a shit. I then realized the benefits of having multiple grinders but the ryobi is still kicking.

Yeah I had a harbor freight I used often for dumb stuff and it lasted way longer than I thought it should.

Ended up giving it away, still running in great condition.

Angle grinders are too easy for a company to fuck up I think, I just went for the Milwaukee cause of the red+black

 

I'm not quite at that level yet
